How much should I ask for?

Early next year I will be replacing my S4R with another type of Motorcycle. Maybe a newer monster or perhaps even a Japanese bike =)
It's a 05 S4R with about 40k on it. Always serviced by Nichols and just recently had its 6k tuneup. One low side with some minor cosmetic scratches. Dam oil on the road =(
Has some after market bits on it, Bar end mirrors, Steering damper, Belly Pan. There is a photo of it in my Signature below.
Of course I am going to hear from the Peanut Gallery with the $1 offers =)

You'd get more parting it out at this point. Not many people want a bike with that many miles-aka I had 30K on mine, no aftermarket bits, and got $4500. YMMV.

Yup. I am aware of that. My friend is currently using my photo site so the domain name has changed temporarily =)

KBB lists your bike as having a retail value of $8750 with an expected mileage of about 24K and in excellent condition and $5840 for the same bike as a trade in. I'd list your bike somewhere in between and drop it by a bit for having nearly double the assumed mileage and a few nicks....so $6k and be prepared to walk away from it for maybe 4000? It also depends on how badly you want to get rid of it. While your asking price might be fair, few people who can afford to maintain a Ducati are going to spend that much on one that's seen that much pavement time when they can buy a much newer one for not a lot more. I just looked up a 2008 S*2*R (yes, I know, not quite the same, but close) and the retail price for that is about $8500. So you need to put yourself in the shoes of a potential buyer and do a little homework.
A lot of it is just timing and persistence. You probably aren't going to find someone willing to part with a big wad of cash right after the holidays when the weather is not great. Spring would be better. Sometimes you find just the right buyer and they are happy to pay what you're asking. If you list it somewhere you'll need to keep freshening up/bumping the ad. I had to do that at least a couple of times a day for my FZR. That was a tough bike to sell--it wasn't quite a collectible and its track-only status and its age turned off many buyers. I got within 200 of my asking price, but it took a couple of months of daily attention. I would list the KBB info in your ad--it makes people understand your asking price and makes you look like you know what you're doing and fair.
I'm no expert...I'm sure you'll get better feedback than what I've given you. I spend quite a bit of time dealing with classifieds stuff on BARF as a moderator, so I'm just beginning to get a sense of what people are sort of looking for. I've only sold a few bikes/cars that aren't your typical classifieds fodder so my real-world experience differs from the norm.
Good luck.

Firefox is set up totally different from IE, so that's why some web pages don't open up correctly or at all with Firefox. Whenever I have something fishy happening I always try IE as a first solution. As far as I know there's nothing you can do to fix that sort of thing on a browser.

If you remove the max-height attribute from the .signature in the CSS file, it's fixed. Here's a screenshot of how I fixed it locally with Firebug (Web dev plugin for Firefox):

Every web browser renders code differently. A friend of mine actually has an ongoing art project forcing browsers to break(or sometimes make really cool shit) because of code. No matter where/what you view his art from it looks different than your neighbors version. Pretty cool, but also shows the limitations while browsing the web. It's a whole new level of modern art.
And now back to the regularly scheduled S4R discussion.
