Hi all, Since I don't have the cash to get a bike and jump into a project, and I can't draw to save myself.   I've embarked on a 3D model to make it easier to picture some different ideas.

A rainy weekend here led to some front end bling that I thought I might share.    New fully floating wave rotors for unprecedented virtual stopping power.

After:

As you can see, I'm using blocks of solid virtual gold for calipers at present.   waytogo

Anyone else here dabble with 3D stuff?

Program used here is the free version of Google Sketchup. Many parts visible are from a monster someone else made and uploaded for public use.

Impressive! Is your model available somewhere to use and modify? I'd like to test some mods myself!

Thanks Bizz.    I think a completed bike is a long way off, so I will do a few finishing touches here and there, and start uploading pieces like the brake disks.

The bike I started from is available from the sketchup 3D warehouse.  Pretty sure its listed as Ducati Monster.    I'll post here as soon as I start uploading parts.

Meanwhile, a couple more goodies from the warehouse.     Renthal rear sprocket and a very nice generic looking shock.

And my creative time went into sorting the swinger from the dloaded monster.  It was somewhat incomplete.     At the end of the day, its not really quite the right shape, and its a very low poly part, hence the blocky look up close.   But it was so much less work to finish that one than build from scratch.   And it allows me to accurately plan plumbing scenarios.

In stages.

3D models is my profession.

I'm proficient with Solid Works, Inventor, AutoCAD, ProE, and can fake my way through Catia.

I can't see the pics at work......blocked. all i get is little red x s.

i'll look tonight, if you ever need something drawn let me know.

Who said a virtual monster  cheeky
I can show you one project, that I start making few months ago, but it's frozen at this time.
Outside is snowing now and there's no way to ride the real one  [moto], so I can go back to the virtual reality  Wink

Tese are two pics that I have on my work PC:

Stay tuned for more  popcorn

Nice work BG!  Love the detail going on there. Looking forward to updates.

Miami, I reckon I will be able to fumble and guess my way around most of it, but I'm a bit stuck on the making wheels from scratch, so set it aside to get on with other things.  If you felt like sketching up an S4R rear wheel and tire, or have any tips, that would be cool.

Progress wise, I fitted the finished swinger and new parts to the bike, and learned that my rear exhaust header was trying to be where the shock is.  I also fitted a propper link and pin chain, but didn't give it a very good texture in pic.

Still plenty to do back there... like a hub for one thing.    But I wanted to finish the brake upgrades, so got on with the front brembo's.  Still a work in progress, but almost done.

Once thats finished, I'll have to remake the forks and lowers to do the rest justice.

well if your using Google sketch up...first recommendation would be to get either a trial version or student version of Solid works or AutoDesk Inventor.

Once you have that, break the wheel down into simple forms....Inter hub, spokes...draw one and do a polar array. third, outer rim. Revolve a closed loop profile around the axis of the center hub. PM me a link of a pic and perhaps specs and i'll toss one together....however unless we have the same program files wouldn't be compatable. I can produce drawings and create PDF files though.....would work well for fab sheets of origonal designs.  Keep me posted. waytogo
