ASV Lever Question
«
on:
December 26, 2009, 01:53:00 PM »
I know it is a 1098 but a couple of us have them and hopefully somebody has an answer for me. The DMF is much faster at getting correct information than most forums
I received a set of silver shorties for my 1098 as a gift and was hoping somebody could clear this up for me. The receipt says C5 levers and so does the installation card which has the model numbers as CRC550s. However the warranty card and the box state they are F3 sport levers.
Does anybody know how to tell the difference between the C5s and F3s? Are there even F3s made for a 1098? Another weird thing is that the back of the box states the part number is CRF350-SK "F3 Sport Series-Shorty Black". It looks like a box mix up but i want to be sure and i can not contact the vendor until Monday. And the the price was paid for the C5s as well.
The numbers listed on the levers themselves are "BCR50B" I attached a photo of them to hopefully help with determining this. Just want to make sure i got the correct part that was ordered as well as have a chance to obtain the 5yr warranty card if it is the right part.
If anybody has these as well please help. I'm hoping these are the right ones and i do not need to send them back.

I dont have them, so this is a crap shoot.
C-5 levers are designated C for CNC milled
F-3 lever are designated F forforged
so you can tell by the weight of the lever, cnc markings, or forge markings.
it looks like there are cnc milling marks made by the drill so it looks like you have C-5.

They were only $200 for the set. Isn't that about the same price of the FPs?

Even if you crash them? ASV replaces them if you break them not just from defects.

FP Racing warranties its levers against breakage or material defect for the lifetime of the lever ! Warranties are non-transferrable; any claims must be made by the original lever registrant. It is the responsibility of the customer to cover all shipping costs associated with their warranty claim. FP Racing reviews all warranty claims and reserves the right to decline those it deems invalid. FP Racing is not liable for damage or injury incurred from levers used on a motorcycle or application other than specified. This product is intended for closed course race applications only. FP Racing is not responsible for any damage incurred from improper lever installation and recommends the use of a certified mechanic. The customer agrees to hold FP Racing harmless regarding any liability in personal injury or property damage as a result of any FP Racing product failure.
Replacement: Warranty inquiries can be made to the FPR Authorized Dealer where you made your lever purchase.
* What is covered: If the lever is damaged and is no longer operating as designed, or is no longer operating safely it will be replaced by FP Racing
* What is not covered: Levers that are scratched as a result of proper operation. Example. If the lever blade is scratched but functions properly the blade will not be warranted however a replacement blade can be purchased.
So if it actually breaks somehow, or is damaged to the point where it is no longer working, then it is replaced. But if you went down and it got scratched up, aka it folded up and did its job by not snapping off and killing your day, then it is deemed operating correctly and will not be replaced, but you can buy a new blade.
Also im not too hot on the ASV look. I bought mine here, they had free engraving, but im pretty sure im going to end up getting rid of my bike, and i cant sell levers that have anything personally engraved on them, so i left them blank.

i got these matt black ones for $5 more (the top one), but if you use google checkout, you get a $5 discount. Looks really cool in the pics, cant wait for them. Im going to hockey tape the ends so if the bike goes down the tape gets scratched up and not the levers.

Those are a very sweet deal then! Apparently ASV will replace the levers if they get scratched up which i guess is the one plus side. I like the bigger range of adjustability on the ASVs too thanks to the barrel adjuster. But for that price those FPs are a steal. That is a nice warranty on them.

M900 only went through '02, and AFIAK, all M900 were small pivot goldline masters.
620 have large pivot coffin masters.
