PCIII?
«
on:
December 27, 2009, 11:17:22 AM »
I'm a newbie here, I just purchased my first Ducati, an '07 S4RS. I also just picked up a nice used 50mm Termi complete system (Headers, carbon cans, DP ECU, filter, Etc.) for it.
My other bike is an '04 Aprilia Factory. When I put Arrows & an open airbox with gauze filter on the Ape, it ran like shit until I installed the PC III and had a custom map done by Eraldo Ferracci, whereupon it ran & still runs incredibly!
My question is; can you use any of the newer generation Power Commanders on the Duc, with their closed loop system? If so, what are the necessarry Mods, changes, or pit falls?
Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert on your bike, but I think the DP ECU gets rid of the O2 sensors and rest of the closed loop system.
Your package will most likely make your bike run smooth and quite a bit much stronger (from 130 to 147bhp).
Mileage will suffer, but you won't [moto]

What else is there to the closed loop except for the lambda O2 sensor and the ECU?

I believe that's it. Takes care of the fuel adjustment below 4,000 revs, based on the sensor reading/input.
There's a stickied thread about it in Accessories & Mods.

I have the same bike. Same exhaust. This exhaust does not have the ability to retain the O2 sensor so you must use the DP ECU or have your stock one re-flashed to eliminate that parameter or you will have a constant CEL.
You my find as I did, that the DP ECU runs pig-rich. I added a PCIII on top of the DP ECU and had it dyno tuned as it was way too rich. Especially on the bottom. The PCIII and tuning gave me another 8hp & 10ft lb to boot.

Wow! I like that! Time to start saving for a PC III.

Let me know if you need the part number for the old style unit. The new ones don't allow for adjustments below 4 or 5k due to the EPA fine they got.

Not quite sure what you mean by that Hypurone?
Are you refering to the DP ECU?

He's referring to the Power Commander.

Can you still get the old version through them or am I going to have to hunt for it? So the old one allowed you to adjust under 5250 and less than 19% throttle without the DP ECU? If so what's the part number? Thanks.

You want the "race ready" PCIII. You can get it pretty much anywhere online. It allows you to adjust the map on all rpm levels. The california one just does mid and high rpm's. Pretty much pointless in my view.

The race ready one says "NOTE: Power Commander will NOT allow fuel adjustment below 19% throttle and below 5250rpm unless you have the DP ECU"
http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/powercommander_iii_usb.aspx?mk=5&mdl=193&yr=2007
I don't think it's available through them anymore is it.

Ah, my bad. I was looking at the wrong monster. My S2R is fully adjustable, so I was assuming it would be for the OP. Sucks that you have to buy a termi set up with ECU, AND a PCIII. I would hope that the termi set up is ready to rock, plug and play with no more adjustments. I really hate the hoops we need to jump through just to get the most out of these bikes. No body would by a car if it surged, stumbled, etc just so it passes emissions. Theres NO excuse why bikes cant be designed the same way. Sorry, turned out to be a rant didnt it.

You will def have to hunt for the old version if you want one. It is actually for the M1000ie if that helps. I would have to find my paperwork for the PN...
