Yup, black ice is no fun... it looks like dry pavement but is simply polished ice and is slicker than a Tiger Woods golf grip in a Las Vegas Martini bar!

If you can verify that there are no such hazards then, go ahead... just watch for spots where water can "run" when it is warm then freeze up later as well as the dreaded black ice.

I give in at around 5 deg C (around 40 or so F?), where I am there are too many possibilities of ice in shady curves and it is just too cold to comfortably buzz along.

When spring comes along though... oh man is it nice to blast around again and 5 deg feels ok somehow!

It gets to about freezing here for about a month out of the year and I will usually grit it out.  I ride slower, it's no fun on the ride in the morning.  Make sure your feet and hands working the controls are warm and if you stop at traffic signals on the ride, move your hands and fingers to get some blood down to them.
I agree, suck it mother cold.  This is supposed to be FLORIDA, give me a break!
