Seriously? So what you're saying is you'd rather buy one right off the showrrom floor that they claim to be a new model when all it really is is old technology in a warmed over leftover that they threw the parts bin at and has is a different fender and a different paint scheme?

 I'd rather have the custom. Take a good look. It has a lot of higher end components than the standard HD.

Ah, do you have it right?  Not quite.  My FXDX actually handles rather well.  I was trying to be nice and find something positive to say about that custom, but the fact is that style of bike is (_!_) ugly; that particular custom just a bit less so.

Those types of bikes are made primarily to be seen, not ridden, and I don't care for what I see.  Sure it has "higher end components" but so what.  Components must also be evaluated for how that contribute to the whole; this one's a whole mess imo.

ICON's chopper comes much closer to what I would find interesting in a HD type custom.

Not really. You are correct to some degree that they mishmash parts for maximum bang for the tooling buck, but they constantly evolve the guts of the old air cooled engines while keeping an old-tech appearance. They still use pushrod actuated valves (for now) but they are a far cry from the old days. And for heavy bikes they handle quite well. Me, I'll keep my Street Rod.

Are you running some baffles in that exhaust sir. I was able to squeeze some in my after modifying them first.

By the way, thanks for the kind words. The paint job will be very simple. All black with an Ace of Spades on each side of the tank and a tiny line coming down the tank and fender. Sweet and simple like my S4RS.

No baffles yet. I'll consider after the first traffic stop. Not much room for them though....

Maybe the pipe wrap will help.
