Yeah I know it's difficult to get everyone together especially that there is 70+ Sydneysiders.
The more notice people have of a date the more chance they have to make it.

But then I'm always up for more frequent rides.

That is usually why we do a bigger group ride every 2nd month to try to entice more folks to come on out.

I think the problem with too much notice is that people commit to the date then something else crops up that (rightly or wrongly) becomes more important so it looks like people are piking out.

More frequent rides, where people grab the opportunity if their little black books are empty may be the answer.

2c worth from someone who can't commit to Nov 2020  Grin

Oh and smaller groups meeting more often may mean more riding and less chatting due to less catching up to do. (not that chatting is a bad thing  Roll Eyes).

Now do you see why I ride alone so much!!

Thanks Heather, that's where I was going with the suggestion.

More rides, more often.

And also the bi-monthly mammoth monster marathon.  waytogo

Yeah the last little weekend run was just a short sprint really.
We usually try to rack up 300-400+ in a day, but then with a bigger group higher k's are always harder.

So here's a thought -

For the large group - (over 5 or 6 people) sedate rides:

Go back to the longer range - 1 day per month, alternate saturday and sunday, and lock it in for 6 months in advance.
Dates dont change, if you can make it you can make it.

People interested in a more impromptu ride can post up the details in seperate threads, people who want to come can reply to them. In the thread, state the date, start time, intended group size and type of ride (spirited, suitable for beginners etc). That way people know the intent and can chose to come or not. If you have a limit on the size (for practical reasons, larger groups don't ted to work on spirited rides as well) then state them, and it will tend to work itself out.

I basically thought that was the system allready in place. Roll Eyes

But 6 months maybe a bit adventurous. Undecided
3 to 4 would be enough?? Undecided

Yep. But in the past we have actually set out the 'once-every-two-month "official" ride' for the whole year.

I also think we need to go back to setting up a separate thread for each 'big/official' ride as the date approaches to collect names, etc ... I think a few people are missing things buried in a 30+ page thread.

The more notice people have of a date the more chance they have to make it.

This was a nice plan, but it seems nobody agreed on a date.

And also the bi-monthly mammoth monster marathon.  waytogo

I'm gonna pinch this one as a working title for:

I also think we need to go back to setting up a separate thread for each 'big/official' ride as the date approaches to collect names, etc ... I think a few people are missing things buried in a 30+ page thread.

So I am going to create a separate thread to get things moving again.

Oh and I know I am not as popular as Dez but I could be doing some time on the Old Road this weekend.
