I second Chipo's offer for you ever need a place to stay in Houston but replacing Caracas with northern New Mexico (ok, possibly less "exotic" but we do have access to great skiing and my family lives to feed guests).

Exactly where in NM?

Exactly where in NM?

umm, name a town and I prolly have family there. In fact, name any person with a spanish last name in NM and I'm related to them.

no, but really - family has pretty sweet pads in Abq, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Abiquiu, Espanola, Pecos and more "humble" (possible understatement there) abodes abounding just off the Taos highway (which is a **saweet** road).

I've spent mucho tiempo burning up the roads in Northern NM... I usually stay near Taos in El Prado, or Ranchitos, or El Seco.

I heart Taos  waytogo

In that case ya'll should join Chipo and I - we're trying to plan a TX to NM week(ish) long run sometime in the near future.
MurDuc, maybe we can even swing up to your sister's place in CO Springs - it's only 3.5 hrs from my house!

Sounds like a fun time, but I have a Vegas trip, another Austin trip, and then an Italy/Germany trip on the horizon.  I gotta save all the PTO I can, plus taking time off for trackdays.

If y'all get close to Santa Fe you should head over to Madrid and check out the Mine Shaft Tavern.  They are suppose to have great burgers (I ended up there on a day the kitchen closed early).  The bar is long, people fun and rowdy looking.  I think it's a Bandito hang out without the exclusivity of a hard core biker bar.

Then there's another place between Albuquerque and Santa Fe that is worth checking out called Silva's Saloon.  If you do go, ask the old man where his dad died.

Thanks, mang! will u be joining us?
oh we will DEF be heading out in the Madrid area. Would spend at least a day or two with Santa Fe as a base camp for all the mountain roads to the east.

Chipo, when shall we talk dates and get a thread going?
