The standard Ducati Monster seat is sloped forward so on a long ride I slide onto the tank and my bum starts chaffing on the seat edges ,,I reckon I need to get it modified in a better profile any ideas, replacement seats are too expensive Corbin seat and Sargant seats have more lip at front to reduce slide onto tank and more cut away at rear but at $600 are both to rich for me and both have quality issues at that price... my thought are cutting a bit in the back of the riders saddle and adding some in the front ? any one done this

Two suggestions:

1) Compression shorts.

2) DP Comfort Seat

The compression shorts will allow your butt to slide in your pants a little more. Tho this means you have to use your knees and core muscles a bit more to keep your junk away from the tank, you should be doing so anyway. The big benefit is that the sliding comes between the shorts and whatever else you're wearing, rather than in the layers of skin girding your loins.

Yeah, it gets hot in the sun, but the DP Comfort Seat basically doubled the "comfortable" range on my Monster, and at about $200, it was a steal. They occasionally show up used even less. Additionally, the finish is kinda "grippy," making it easier to save The Boys on those long rides. I've been told its also significantly more comfortable for a passenger, should you have one.

I bought a gel pad from knoplace and carved out the foam on an old seat i bought from one of the members on this board, pretty easy really.

What year/model do you have?  For some years in the early 2000's the Dark model had a seat that sloped forward severely.  I had one of these and at 6' tall it sucked.  The other non-Dark models didn't have this seat.  I got one of those and I have to say it's the most comfortable stock seat I've ever been on.

The reason for this slope on the Darks was to make the standover height lower for shorter riders.  It also brings you closer to the tank.  I don't know why Ducati figured there was some correlation between Dark models and short people.

I purchased a Luimoto seat cover and had an upholsterer add extra foam underneath. It's SO much better.
