pretty sweet custom build ... a 1979 cbx, sporting a monster seat (and using some styling cues from monsters as well).

It's ridiculous and lovely at the same time.

Hrmmm....I'm decidedly not into this.  The Monster has a little refinement to it amongst the brawn.  This thing is just a metal meathead.  The bars are too dainty for that engine...the Monster seat isn't in keeping with the rest of the design.  The lights are atrocious.  The yellow and gold accents are god-awful.  Not sure why I hate this bike so much, but I do.  Oh yeah--the HONDA written on the side of it isn't helping things.  Not a fan of Honda styling.  Not even a little bit.

"a 1979 cbx, sporting a monster seat"
It doesn't make in a Monster...
Sorry John, but seriously, you're just wrong.

Nice try tough.

Come on. It's shiny in that one spot.
What?

I usually don't like Honda design when it comes to most things except robots ( no wait I don't like the robots the most. ) but this is like a child born with 3 eyes. You kind of have to let it in the theatre anyway. It's not it's fault.

The new Multi-Stroodle, the one with the nose like Nixon, is just plain offensive. Like a purposeful kick on the balls.

I dunno, I kind of drooled over the CBX when it first came out. I mean a 6 cylinder screamer? What's not to like?

The coolest part is that they deliberately set out to make the exhaust sound like an F4 Phantom jet (*the* badass jet of the day)

This is from the Cycle World review
"From the beginning," Irimajiri explained, "our Six produced a smooth jetlike exhaust sound. But with an ordinary exhaust arrangement, it wasn't that close to a jet. We thought if we worked on it we could come up with a motorcycle sound like no one has ever heard before.

"So we sent some engineers to the Hyakuri Japanese Air Force base in Chiba prefecture. For ten days they tape-recorded the sound of Phantom jet fighters, and then came back and designed an exhaust system for the CBX that could duplicate that sound. When I heard it for the first time I was amazed; they had captured the Phantom sound perfectly."

Unfortunately Honda management killed the Phantom exhaust and came out with something more conventional.
