First time? Excellent! You're gonna LOVE it!

Don't worry about being too slow or whatever... Just ride your own ride and enjoy. You won't get left behind.

Ok fellas...  I'll see you at the Shell station at 8am.   

A few words of advice:  Dress WARM!  I heard it might get a little chilly up towards the top.  Layers = Good Idea!   

I'm gonna have a little pack in case I need to + or - layers.

Great ride today!  Nice to meet John (DucofWestwood) and Sean (duc750). 

Neither of them had been up the Crest before and it was my pleasure to show them the way. 

It was a little chilly on the way up, but not unbearable.
Word at the Shell station was that the road was closed after Big Tujunga, but we decided to make a go of it anyway.  As it turned out, we were some of the last few to make it through before they shut it down.  During breakfast at Newcomb's someone came in and told us the road was now closed.  We'd be able to get down, but they weren't letting anyone else up. Lucky us!!!    [moto]

Here's a few pics...  The views were awesome, even though seeing everything burnt was a little sad.

awesome ride today gents!!  thanks for showing us the way short bus.   

we timed it perfectly both with the road closing while we sat at newcombs AND with the rain starting just as i pulled up to my house. 

as an added bonus i arrived home to an empty house and was able to catch a nap.  oh yeah, and tomorrows a holiday!  can it get any better?  i think not.

Looks like you guys had a blast!  It started raining here around 1pm or so (I live about 7miles from ACH) so it's a good thing you all rode early.
