Here's an idea I'm playing with - a helmet/jacket hook made from a piston/con rod (bent 90 degrees) & a valve (bent into a hanger hook):
So far, I like it, though a smaller piston than a small block Chevy might work better - not that my head's terribly small, but the piston skirt catches more than I'd like on the helmet pads. That, and they guy who's my source for all the leftovers from motor rebuilds has started casting aluminum and it's easier to talk him out of little Honda pieces than big V8 bits.

I've been trying to teach myself how to forge chain and forgeweld the links. Interesting.

Don't know what it is about the spring, but everybody wants something made, and they want the day after tomorrow, and they'd rather get it free.
Made these awards in a pretty hectic afternoon for the annual gala fundraiser of our local bike advocacy group. They had plaques engraved to go on the wooden bases to honor the winners.
And with our first daughter graduating high school next weekend & the entire extended family descending on us for the ceremony & barbecue afterward, we needed more outdoor tables. My excuse to finish off this project that had been loitering partially finished in the garage for quite a while - a table made from a round section of old cottonwood.

Just came into a very cool piece to use in a project: a V-12 block from an 80's BMW 750il. It's going to need a lot of cleaning, beadblasting & disassembly before it's ready - including knocking six of the heavily corroded pistons out of the bores, but at this early stage I'm looking for ideas.
My first thought is to have a tempered glass top cut for it & maybe etched with the BMW logo, using the block as the base for a coffee table, as on Top Gear:
But I'm open to other ideas for that and for the crank...
The pistons & rods are just about perfect for the helmet holders I showed earlier in this thread - except for the fact that they don't seem to have the BMW logo stamped or cast all over them, which would probably double the price I could ask for 'em.
I should add that - as our tiny little house barely has room for a coffee table, much less a man cave that would need a coffee table - my objective is to make something cool that a wealthy BMW owner or maybe even a dealership would be proud to buy & make a prominent part of their decor.

Buy a Harley and use it as an auxiliary anchor.

Nah - it's lightweight cast aluminum - not NEARLY heavy enough.

Probly all it will pull though.

Instead of the coffee table, pitch it up on end, figure a way to use 4 pistons and rods as legs, have a round tempered glass top made and make one kick ass pub table.
