Anyone know anything about the fiat shifty? The description
Seems to indicate it was built by a private party using
A fiat engine and other scavenged bits.

Yeah, thanks for that. I was trying to expand the conversation
Around what appears to be a pretty rare bike.

It looks to me that it was some kind of abortive attempt at starting a motorcycle manufacturing company. I'm sure the idea was solid on paper.

I'm not so sure that it looked good on paper.
53 hp @ 5600 rpm, 45.6lb/ft @ 3000 rpm, and 592 lbs.
That's less power and the same peak torque as my M750, and ~200 lbs heavier.
I'd imagine running costs were low.
Dunno how reliable Fiat 127 motors are.

A buddy had an SS Darmah. Due to a parts shortage his came with polished rods/crank, ported heads, endurance racing cams, race valve job, polished case internals, etc. They scabbed up parts from the race shop to make up his bike. He regrets selling that one.

I regret selling my Darmah too...
even though it was the single most unreliable piece of machinery I have ever had the frustration to own.

I guess you would rebuild and rewire one if you found one now. Thats what me mate did when he found factory race parts.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.
