Aermacchi/Harley Chimera

I have pics of one from Imola with "HARLEY DAVIDSON-AERMACCHI" on the logo.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Thanks God Aermacchi steered towards plains/military stuff  Grin
You could see the hint from jet-like air intake in the front...

it's actually the cylinder head -- it's a single with a horizontal cylinder.

Now HOW did I know you'd be the first to reply?!  Wink

Son bought this from a Dutch dealer for a client of his. This is an older restoration which had been in a German collection. Fairly clean with a little patina. We picked it up from Norfolk today, nicely crated and fully serviced and I helped him unload and uncrate it. He's still making decent $$$ on it and paid much less for it than the 175 which cost the Barber Museum ~ $20,000 from Dana Mecum.  Wink

It's a 1958 250 Chimera, so before any Harley investment I believe. Tank decals are plain Aermacchi.

It's going to New Hope, PA eventually but might be here for a few weeks. I'll e-mail the original phone snap so that you can get a better look. I forgot my C-Lux this AM because I had to leave the house so early.  Wink

Well that's one way to deal with the funky XL tank.

818 is a 750 Paso crankcase punched out.  90mm ?

you can take a 750 to 92? hmmm

a 696 is 88. what does that translate to at 92mm?

765 cc

plus  92/57.2 is a 1.6 oversquare ratio

Yes you can, but it will definitely require case modification...  It >might< be possible to use a Paso 906 bottom end...  But then why leave it at 818?

I imagine there is about 0.5mm metal left between the studs and the lip of the bore hole
