Thanks to everyone who's keeping this thread going, especially Kopfjaeger.  Basically, when looking for bike porn, I got to Bikeexif, Pipeburn, Walt Siegl's insta, and this thread.

Kopf, would you post any pics you have/direct me to where I might find pics of the front end of your bike, particularly the bracket and structure that fits your Motogadget speedo to the bike?  It looks like a stock headlight bracket topped off by a Motogadget universal speedo bracket modified to fit a Monster?  It's really clean and I'd love to know more about it.

"Originally sold new by Letko Cycles in Kansas City on 8/29/1992 for $10,479"

$10.5k in '92?
Say what?

First edition 900SL, MKI.  Those had the 2-pc Marvic magnesium wheels. They only made 500 or so world-wide of that year.

10,500 sounds high, but I think they were being sold at a premium especially later in the model year.  I think they were originally priced around 9000 but dealers jacked the prices up.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Nice snaps but owned that exact bike for six months before trading for a 600SL. Got tired of the "same day" steering and the SL got a sprocket, 2 into 1, K&N's and jetting. Could leave the SS for dead in the twisties.  Wink
