That's gotta hurt. A new engine for each bike?

Thats wierd, who else except the Italians would replace an entire engine because of " failed to meet strigent factory quality standards". Considering that "no" warranty claims have been filed

I believe this is related to faulty conrods in the non factor RSV4's. Apparently 9 out of 20 demo bikes used during a press day had a conrod snap. Its a fault with their supplier and not a design flaw on Aprilia. Either way, thats gotta suck.

Nobody does this for "goodwill". Sounds like "we know this this is crap, it's possible to break and in a way that will get us sued back into the stone age...so we better fix it now or else".

"Following extensive testing and verification, the Italian manufacturer assessed that
one component
in a small group of engines assembled during a specific time period had failed to meet stringent factory quality standards, resulting in an unacceptable risk of future engine failures."
Gotta be the Con-Rod issue...

I read the same thing in Cycle World. This is why I would never buy a brand new model. Even a model like the Monster 695 which was merely an updated version of a 620 had its share of problems due to tougher emissions regulations.

Yeah I read that too. That sucks for a bike that seems bad ass. At least they're taking responsibility unlike the desmoquattro "un-recalled" issue.

5 out of 30 failed at the press launch but was supposedly limited to pre-production motors. Evidently not.
Sounds like the 4.5 and 5.5 twins all over again.

Failed rocker is a service problem, but the chances of catastrophic failure are very low. Haveing a rod snap at high RPM while leaned over in a corner locking the motor up = bad wreck. Flaking rocker = money for service and parts.

Haven't heard of a desmoquattro issue that's in the same league as broken rods.
Flaking chrome on rockers won't fling you down on the ground...

"
Aprilia Italy has announced its intent to recall a limited number of RSV4 motorcycles for engine replacement. While only a small number of production units are affected, the recall impacts all RSV4 motorcycles delivered within the U.S. market to-date. "
They sent all the bad one to you guys...hehe
