696 (not 1100?) handlebar options

hey everyone, this is to help my search for the best handlebar (riding position change) for my 696. I was interested in the M3 (m4 apparently is on;y for the 1100) handlebar, but after speaking with the manufacturer, they dont come in black, and can't be anodized since they are stainless (powder coat scratches too easily IMO)

I would like the look of the Rizomas, but i want a low, forward position, more so than stock. The Rizomas are a higher ride height, and i'm a big guy

anyone have any ideas? I would do clip ons if i had the money (and change the top triple to a black one, weird they didn't do that at anyways)

Any 7/8 handlebar with the proper bend will work.  You just need to figure out what measurements you want and drill the holes for the controls... or take the pegs out of the controls.

If you were willing to pay for SM bars plus anodizing - what's stopping you from buying clip ons?

The reason I keep plugging Swatt is that even with the 3.5" risers your hands/grips will be about two inches lower than the grips on stock bars.

Check out mrplease's bike. He's got just about everything imaginable blacked out, but preferred to keep the M3 au naturale. It really has a beautiful finish you'll want to show off.

yeah i spoke with the guys that makes the M3 bars, they say since they are stainless you can anodize them, and i am worried powder coating with scratch too easily.

I am interested in clip ons, just not sold on the idea yet, from a look standpoint

i went with the speedymoto tall boy clip-ons (http://www.speedymoto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=08-0250BLK&Category_Code=TB) on my 1100s.

They're not cheap, but I liked the idea of being able to adjust them downward when I wanted a more sport/aggressive riding position and up for the long-ride home.

You can also change the "sweep" angle and rotate them back toward you (around the fork tube) to your liking.  Of course, you might not be able to security lock your bike if you adjust them so far back that the steering lock cannot engage.  Also be careful not to chip your paint.  Use the steering lock stop adjuster to prevent the bar from contacting the side.

But, in the end, it looks great!  I will have pix coming once I'm done with the majority of my mods.
