So I bought Julie a 620 dark and I need to shave the seat... anybody know of anyone with an old seat I can buy and destroy in my efforts? I want to keep the stock one in tact if I go the DIY route... as the other methods are $400 plus to have them custom shorten the seat.

Check out Mr. Ed's in Albany. I heard he can do this kind of job for as little as $100 . . .
No FHE though.

I emailed him. Rich's in Seattle responded... but they are like $450... and from the sounds of it... Ed's may have gone way up in price. The quotes they had online were really high too.

Bummer. Yah, Rich's is pricey but I'd heard Mr. Ed was cheap.
Oh well.
I tried.

Ed's is now more expensive than Rich's.
On a side note... and a weird one... Geico insurance... Ninja 250 (2001) = Monster 620 exactly in the insurance cost... wtf?

I've got the stock lower seat from my '03 800 Dark in perfect shape. I bought a used regular seat because the low one sucks when you're 6' tall. You're welcome to try it out if it fits the bike. If you like it, keep it and gimme your seat. I'm only keeping it for the pan, I want to hack it apart and build a better two up seat.

The stock low seat is lower AND slopes towards the tank. Great if you're short with short arms, terrible nut crusher if you're not. Please come get it and give it a try. I'm guessing you're dropping the forks a bit too to match the lowered link? You're welcome to hold onto the seat until you get all the suspension bits installed and see how it plays. With those three together you may be just fine.
You may also want to look at the Gen-Mar risers that bring the bars back an inch. Ugly, but functional for the short armed.

She already has the lowered seat on her. It's the same seat I have. Dude. I'll sell you Lili or $6K and you can part her for "Julie's" bike.

Julie's about my height right? Is she looking to flat foot or just have a little bit more secure of a stance?
I used to have a 695 with the Ducati lowered seat. It helped alot and I was able to get the balls of my feet down on both sides but I definitely couldn't flat foot. I dunno if the bike could have been lowered enough to do that.
I should know tonight about whether the S2R seat will fit the 620. Jacob's gotta go grab it off my bike in Estacada and bring it here.

Yeah, the Dark came stock with the low seat unless it was swapped. You can tell which it is. The regular seat is fairly flat, the low seat is obviously sloped down toward the tank.
I've got both. And again, I only need a pan for what I'm doing so if you want to keep yours stock and hack mine up, just gimme one pan back when you're done.

I will probably buy an extra seat just to hack up... like you. I want to keep a safe one just in case... lol.

Need to update your tag-line Ryan. You're 2 bikes or 3 depending on how you count it behind.
