Hello all, I have had my S2R 800 now for about 7 - 8 months, and for the last month or so I have had this rattle that was causing a little heart ache, the reason being was it sounded like I had a rattle coming front the head of the front cylinder, but it was only during certain revs and idle that it would make the noise, but it was getting worse, if you have ever listened to an engine when it is low on oil, this rattle was very similar, but it would only do it when it wanted.

I was starting to get worried, it never did it when I took it to my Mechanic, I was getting desperate!!  bang head

Well today I found it!!

It was the electrical connections for the horn!!!
The electrical connections were fine, but the plastic covers for the connections rattled like a pregnant dog

But only at idle and selected revs, but never when I looked around the engine trying to find this noise!!!

One Zip tie, and all fixed, the noise is gone, I am happy, but what a pregnant dog to find!!

Time for a  drink

lol, after having my bike for just a week i thought i broke a baffle in the stock exhaust.  i was getting this god aweful metallic buzz at certain rpm's.  it drove me crazy.  i took it in for the 600 mile service and told the tech i wanted them to replace the cans under warranty.  when i picked up the bike it had the same cans on it and i was a bit upset until they told me they tightened / locktite'd my license plate bolts.     bang head

noise gone

It just insane, such a small thing can make so much noise, I had just finished cleaning the bike and was drying it with a Chamois, and I flicked the Horn (Ooh Err!) and I heard the rattle, I just tapped the Horn Assy with my finger and I was shocked at loud these little pieces of plastic rattled.

Started the bike and got down close to them and for once they rattled when I needed them to!! JOY!!

Put my finger across them... Silence.
