Tri-State Area Weather
«

So, it's snowing out right now...
Usually I love the snow, and enjoy it thoroughly.
This is going to be my first year where I hope it STOPS snowing and gets warm(NOT HOT!!!) as soon as possible.
I'm just waiting to go out and get a nice Arai fitted so I can start getting some more quality time in on my best friend's CBR600 in preparation for a sweet new Ducati, but it looks like it's still going to be quite too cold for weeks to come.
I want to hear some stories and opinions about experiences with getting back out there after winter, in all cold areas but especially around here.
When do you guys think I should realistically try to start getting out there? I would imagine I could start on nice sunny days within a few weeks to a month, but damn some of this weather is still bitter cold...
I don't have any gear yet and I don't exactly feel like dressing for a climb up Everest just to get some time out there, plus I wouldn't trust the roads if they're too cold.
I suppose waiting for a good rain to get the salt/sand well off the road would be useful too, but that's tough with all this continued snow.
Anyway enough rambling, let's hear some stories!

Im in jersey as we speak and im in the same boat as you, i normally love the snow because im a big snowboarder and all. But since i bought my first ducati 3 weeks ago, well lets just say being out on the mountain may be fun but it aint cutting the cheese since i have a ducati sitting in my garage. I did take it out yesterday though. It got up to 45 in blairstown and it was nice and sunny, so i decided to take her out for a little ride. The tires were rock solid though so i took it very very easy untill they atleast got somewhat warmed up. But all in all for what time of the year it is it was a nice ride. Im used to the cold so a nice thick jacket with a pair of jeans and knee and shin guards on, with my riding gloves and a liner underneath them did the trick just fine. I cam back and the only part of me a little cold was my neck. But id say it wont be untill the second week of march untill we get some consistent nice weather and the roads are clear of salt and gravel untill we get do some serious riding. What area are you from btw?

Sorry, I could have sworn it showed my location somewhere...
Maybe I'm thinking of a different forum.
I'm in south-western Connecticut.
Wow, just looked out the window, probably 5+ inches already and going strong... Hopefully it'll keep going for a week and then warm up nice and quick for the season.

I had the bike out yesterday for a couple of hours. I knew it would be my last chance for a while. I spent today shoveling snow. I'm not done yet, nor is the snow.

upstate new york - rochester area.
we have some snow, but not much. at least i did not have to shovel too much this winter (up to this point). but the weather forecast for the next two weeks is just cold, cold, cold. so maybe in march. last year i had to wait until april to get back on the duc. i am getting antsy already this year...

Im in Severn MD, 5 mins from BWI Airport. We had 36" with the first storm and 19" with the second storm. I got out of town after the first storm. Im in Stowe VT and there is only about 2" here. Im driving back to over 50" this weekend.
