does anyone know waht kind of clasp this is called?

NoisyDante

I don't know specifically, but I bet it would technically be a latch.  Try doing a search on draw or toggle latches.

Try also push, pull, and toggle clamps.  Some manufacturers blur the lines distinguishing one type from another.

Someone backed into it, the top expanded, and now it won't latch.

While it was down on the sidewalk, it got a parking ticket.

I've never known of anyone more needing to visit an old gypsy woman to remove a curse. I don't particularly believe in any of that sort of stuff, but at the rate you're going it couldn't hurt. I suppose I shouldn't say that.

Instead of a latch that will compromise the structual integrity, could you go with some magnetic closure?

Unless you mean your powder coating oven and not some household appliance ...

Pip

I thought the latch would be for closing that box he and Pandora opened.

I just realized that my mom back in Jersey has a small kiln she used to fire ceramics in during her days as an art teacher.  I could totally powder coat things in that couldn't I?

Glad you found the latches.  [thumbsup]

I suspect that kiln will get *way* hotter than you would need for powdercoating.

650-700 i think is for the ceramic coating.

The oven works. i brought it up to 700degrees no problem in 1:30 seconds  [evil]. I just havent done any coating yet.

Its just, i have a big problem with the heating part of it. I had a computer controlled heater, but it gave me so many issues, i ditched the idea. I dont have time to play with a new system, so i went back to the old system.....a 500,000 BTU torch, the only issue is, i have to manually control it by watching my thermocouple. Its a digital readout, so i can see how fast it goes up which is pretty cool, but it sucks that i have to baby it. In the summertime when i dont have school ill play with a new system.

I wanted to do some coating today, but i ended up getting a SICK deal. I barter some manpower to help move some items and got a 2 free o2 tanks. All i need is an acetylene tank  and a torch set!
