Watching couples skating. It makes me feel alittle funny on the inside.  :D
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

I also hear they are trucking in snow, BC isn't getting the snowfall they expected.

Yup. They've been trucking in snow for the past month. Temperatures hit 57 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday. This past January was the warmest on record. Not very wintery at all, in fact flowers are blooming.

Then you won't want to miss Tanith Belbin in the ice dancing event.

The men's and women's mogul events were both awesome.  The men's event coverage was crap, though.  At least for the women they showed more than just the Americans and the top four competitors.  I hate that highlight style coverage.  I don't need to hear about the hardships and trials and see the talking heads constantly.  Show the competition - how hard is that?

Don't bother watching it on NBC. It's done in highlight style. Perhaps as the Games progress, they'll start showing events in their entirety.

yeah, you're not gonna get full events on NBC... if you want the full event coverage, track down your sports on the sister networks.

NBC's coverage is a disgrace to the games. More advertising than anything, and the goddamn Dreamworks commercial that they intro about how snowboarding used to be back in prehistoric times just pisses me off now. WTF.

I also haven't found the games at all on any other channel. Oh well. What else is new with US TV...in 10 years even the shows will just be one giant commercial.  [puke]

I timed it at one point for a 15min period; Four minutes of actual olympic competition, Seven minutes of paid commercials and Four minutes of NBC self promoting.

I have a proposition for the IOC:  death penalty for all ice skaters who fall on a jump.  It saves us the agony of pity-watching the rest of the routine, and listening to the platitudes of the commentators as they try to put a slightly different spin on the "trained for 18 years only to fall on their face in front of the entire galaxy" narrative.  Just a sniper shot to the head, and a zamboni pass over the puddle of blood during commercial.

Sanguine fantasies aside, when are they going to update ice skating?  It is looking and sounding more  like a variety show from the 60s with the spangled one-armed unitards and garish piano music and clown makeup.

Thanks.  [thumbsup] I knew about USA (just missed the airing)...but not about the others.

So when did Bob Kostas turn 23? I figure it's worth watching just to see if the stitches rip or the black hair dye starts to run under the hot studio lights...

I can't wait for the curling!!

Just to add to the pregnant doging about NBC, as a former X-C skier the event I'd love to see more of, is never shown.  Okay so the American's never do well in the nordic events, except jumping, and we never will if we never see it.  I move for  a little less ice dancing, more X-C, no up close and personals, and  less of Bob Kostas interviews (no, make that no Kostas).

As for the death penalty for skaters that fall, I have to say that is a little extreme.  I now live in Texas, death penalty central, and we don't do much ice skating here, but I doubt if we would put a skater to death for falling, but ya never know.  Maybe we could just end their program after they fall  [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
