It's on youtube, if you want to see it. I will not post it.

I prefer to remember the original, the one that impacted the world, the one that was something special.

Honestly, never heard of the song before. Here's the original. The description even says who is singing what for us young-uns that don't know who is who.
We Are The World - Michael Jackson Lionel Richie Cindy Lauper Steve Wonder Bruce Springsteen...

Some good background, as well as some figures on the amount of money raised and donated.

The song itself sucked though.  :P

Their heart is in the right place.  If they make money and it gets distributed properly, that is a net win.

As far as the song itself goes, I don't know why someone couldn't compose a new one with all the talent on board.  I happened to catch the premiere, and while the original was not a great song as much as it was a fundraising vehicles, turns out neither of these things are improved by auto-tuning. Or Celine Dion.  I also didn't like the ghost of MJ looming over the choir - I know he was the crown jewel of the first one, but it felt like a shout out.

Do we have to be the world? How about they can be the world. You can join them and be part of the world if you'd like. As for me, I'm going to sit on my deck, shut my eyes and try my hardest to forget that the rest of the world exists whether we are it or not.

HATERS GONNA HATE.

I'm a bit surprised that the Playing for Change people didn't do their own version. Maybe they couldn't get the rights.

Well, there is no apartheid in South Africa any more. So that is better.

It's awfully coincidental that the Internet arrived at the same time originality died.

I said that years ago.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.
