I had someone help me get my car unstuck in my girlfriend's driveway which spurred me to help 5 other cars get unstuck in about 1 hour!

I'm glad you posted this. I have recently been thinking about how negative the comments on the Internet seem to be. I had to stop looking at the Youtube comments and the inane posts on IMDB (seriously, every page for a moderately well known actress has a topic titled something like "Looks Like") make me think people need to go out to a bar/club/bowling ally and just talk to someone without the use of an electronic device.

I was jogging on a heavily trafficed road yesterday, and I see this 70 year old man, try to run accross the street without getting hit. Well, he crosses into oncoming traffic and falls. He tries to get up twice and can't. The oncoming SUV stops in the road. Puts his hazzard lights on and gets out. The Hispanic gentleman then helps the eldery man up and accross to the other side of the street. This is while a line of cars all honk and flip him off.

I was proud of the guy. Good samaritan and doesn't care what the wankers behind him thought. Of course... I felt guilty about not wanting to rush accross 4 lanes of deadly traffic to help him up... but hey... there is some positive in the world... even if it wasn't from me.

My snarky swearing post aside, here is why I think people spew inane vitriol on the internet. First, there is the "internet tough guy" factor. Powerless people who let themselves get shit on by everyone in their lives can get a moment of exhilaration by shitting on some one else for a change. Something they would never do when face to face with some one. But there is also a vicariousness to this that I think is the real point. Miserable people who vomit up hate on to their computer screens are prentending at actually having a life. Things aren't really that bad for these people. Things aren't good either. Things aren't anything. There is nothing there. They watch the news so they can get scared because that is thrilling. And because they know deep down that they will never have the slightest brush with terrorism or date rape or paedophiles or car jackers but they can pretend that there is eminent threat and that is thrilling. So they piss on eachother on the internet for the same reason: to manufacture something in their minds that matters, because nothing around them in reality matters. To anyone. Including themselves. Unfortunately some splashes on those of us that actually choose to particpate in life.

But I think whining about the pregnant doging and pregnant doging about the whining is not helpful. Its just stepping in the piss and tracking it around the house. It shoudn't matter to you. Let the retards sling poo at eachother on YouTube. Fine. As for this site, you can also just ignore the negative people here too. Or be tolerant even. Not everyone is chipper all the time. Let people be moody. So long as it is a genuine reflection of a genuine emotion I say have at it. And if some one wants to just sling poo here I propose this: Every time that person is being Debbie Downer for no reason at all every post there after should include the phrase: "[Poo Flingers Name] shut up, you cock!"

Yeah, things are that miserable right now. I'm a hate filled pissed of person... if you don't like it, don't read my shit!

Have not worked full time since Nov 13.... my attitude is piss poor and is going to remain that way for a while.

Venting here, and seeing that you are not alone in your observations actually make things seem better. The "winter driving thread" made me feel a little better knowing that I'm not the only one who gets pissed off while trying to navigate the make the beast with two backstard filled roads every winter.

Sh!t... i find some of the best humor on this site to come from people's rant threads.

It's been a long winter for some of us on here. It happens every year, people get cabin fever and release their frustrations on the net. Not to fulfill some need to be an internet tough guy, but because we're sick of winter.

I just got an employee terminated.

Why you ask?

He was abusing a corporate credit card and by me catching it, I saved even more potential financial loss to my company in this dwindling economic time and also allowed my Department to re-assess our procedures as this somehow slipped through on our reports we are given by our nameless credit card provider.

Not positive for said person, but positive for myself and my two employees.
