A local Bay Area motorcycle forum put together a presentation to the California Highway Patrol and the CA Office of Traffic Safety.  As a result, for the last week, these messages have been posted on major freeways during commute hours throughout CA -- from San Diego to San Francisco and farther north.  What a great way to reach hundreds of thousands of people.  Well done.  waytogo

Wonder how I can get them to do this around DFW. That's really nice.

Seeing them all over the 405 and the 10 down here in LA.  Very cool.

i filled out some survey on the Cal Trans website basically said "hey thanks" and I got this response:

We are pleased that this educational campaign is receiving a favorable response from many affected users.
These messages, which are scheduled to run through this Thursday, are part of the Caltrans-CHP motorcycle awareness campaign, a statewide effort to improve safety for motorcyclists.  In 2008, there were 529 killed and 11,764 injured on California roads.  Compare that with 200 deaths and 6,330 injuries in 1998, and you have a 165% and 86% increase respectively.

Thanks again - we appreciate your comments!

It was definitely very nice seeing those signs.. got to give them credit for putting in the  effort to get that message out there for the rest of the biking community Smiley

The problem is, in southern California, most people would just say "duh" to that news.

Ah, that's why these are being posted. I saw it while going West on the 10 last Saturday and was wondering why it was there. Not complaining, but just wondering why they did it. Hope they still have it up in the Summer months when more of us are riding.

It's not kosher to come on this board in "winter" and say the weathers too bad to ride in socal. The snowed in folk get al revolty.

We "snow folk" do get pissy when we have big fat white flakes falling hard outside  Cool

I'm just glad my baby is tucked in warm garage at home, patiently waiting.  [moto]

Maybe I'll hit up the ski resort this weekend, lots of new snow up at Alta (and still snowing).  Wink
