I can't believe I'm saying it, but if I were buying a new bike right now, it could well be on of those Beemers.

+1  I'll probably never sell my monster but I'd like to have one of the in the stable as well.

mine's at the dealer right now ... fast red / white / blue color scheme.  arrived while i was
in orlando with the family unit.  BMW sent one of the rocker arms you see in the video as
a 'thanks for buying gift'.  its been a wierd 6 months.  i have a pretty big collection of posters,
DVDs, magazines and copies of articles sent by BMW to stave off the pangs of waiting.

Its called the BMW motorsports color scheme, its what bmw uses on there race cars and such. Like on all the M models like the m3 and m5 the M badge on the back of the car is the three stripes of those colors

It's going to be interesting to see what BMW does here with that 1000rr - and god help us if they make a big motor version.  From the people who brought you 1500 HP from 1500cc's in F1? Horse power will never be the problem with BMW in the game.  It's how the hell do you put it to the pavement and not kill the pilot?

Here's a good review by a local who rode one in the rain to see how the power delivery was handled. It sounds like they got it right.

Didn't want to go with the baby-shit green color?  ;D

I'm jealous, nice buy.

ya know, i was tempted.  its pretty stunning in person, but i was afraid the 'wow' factor would
wear off and i'd be stuck with a bug-guts green bike.  just received the other day a dealer info
book.  this thing (the engine at least) is loaded with high tech.  lots of magnesium, titanium valves,
F1 valve actuation, variable intake.  i got in on the first group (well aware of the 'dont buy the 1st year
of anything' issue) because i think they're low-balling the price to break into the market.  we'll see if it
was a good move or a mistake.  one fact supporting the 'good move' point of view is that BMW
distributed 100 pre-production bikes to employees who put almost 1,000,000 km of test use on
them.

" Why is the BMW S1000r the greatest bike ever?
im sure that you probably didnt already know that the s1000r is the greatest bike ever. if only someone would make a glowing thread about it so that the rest of us will know. but anyway, since most of you do not even know why its the greatest bike ever made, ive put together a list of reasons that ive found on the internet and in unbiased magazine reviews

the s1000r is so fast that it's the only bike who's lap times are expressed with a negative number

when you do a valve adjustment on a s1000r, the valves automatically get adjusted on any other bikes in the vicinity

actually, the valves on the s1000r never go out of spec, the specs get rewritten based on its valve clearance

normal dino oil automatically becomes synthetic when used in an s1000r. also its becomes fat free and tastes great over a salad.

the 1000 in the s1000r name actually denotes the bike's trap speed in miles per hour during 1/4 mile runs, i mean 1/8 mile runs

the s1000r is the only bike that backs it in with the front wheel

the s1000r doesnt pose at starbucks, starbuck poses next to it

the s1000r uses an rsv4 as a pitbike

you will never find a printout of a dyno sheet on an s1000r because they havent made a sheet of paper big enough for it

the s1000r is the only bike that can indicate a left turn and a right turn at the same time and then follow through

if you put an s1000r sticker on your toyota, toyota wont recall it because its already awesome

the s1000r is so awesome it collected jay leno"

[laugh]

the s1000r can not only do a 12 oclock wheelie, but it can do the noon and midnight versions

Cool video!  Interesting how (for the most part) the exhaust valves rotated clockwise and the intake valves went counter-clockwise...

Here's another cool valvetrain video.  This time it is a famous Cammer 427 SOHC V8 being tested at 10000rpm.  Keep an eye on the bolt in front of the central part of the rocker arm  :o
