Opinion of the s4rs....
«

Guys, just a quick ask around in regards to the s4rs. Was going to replace the bike with another ds, but now i'm thinking i should taste the s4rs. Thoughts??
Here's one that i've already spoken to the owner about:
http://www.bikesales.com.au/all-bikes/private/details.aspx?R=3144738&__Qpb=true&Cr=8&__Ns=p_RankSort_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Model_String%7c0%7c%7cp_YearMade_Int32%7c1%7c%7cp_PriceSort_Decimal%7c1&keywords=&__No=75&__N=1432%20604%201430%201429%201428%204294967242%20754%20689&silo=1400&PriceTo=689&seot=1&PriceFrom=754&__Nne=15&trecs=91&__sid=122C85A91E6D

Hey Hugh.
The S4RS/T is one beast of a bike. I see that the one above has the DP ECU as this certainly does make them run smoother with a "little" more HP.
They wake up round 4,000rpm and come alive above 6,000rpm. It is a matter of hang on and ride pants off it.... Great fun on the track or the open road (Old Pacific Highway new paved section my favorite...)
Not so good on gas milage (160km out of a tank) but so worth it....
Loved mine (Sugar has left the building...
) and would get another one if I was in the market again.
Did I tell you they are a great ride?
?

I haven't owned one but compare the service costs against a DS.
And if servicing isn't an issue go for it.
Been looking at that one a few weeks ago.
Certainly the S4rs is an attractive bike and engine. If you don't mind the radiators
I went for a DS for the simplicity, well simple as can be for a DUC.
Oh yeah don't wash the engine and electrics.sorry Matty.

+1 with Rob s
If I had a spare bit of folding stuff then I would of gone an S4R (possibly an S if I could find a nice Tricolore).
Anyhow I went for a S2R - simple like me!
Just love a single sided swing arm, the Ducati rumble out of a good set of pipes, and that sweet dry clutch rattle! [moto]

Simple answer buy one and you won't regret it, the bike is an animal but also a pussy cat.
As to washing it, don't be scared I believe mine was user error by washing it on my rear stand and not draining
it by putting it back on the side stand.
Nothing to do with the electrics, I am lead to believe it's a bent valve but more of that later.
So again, short answer.
Buy it and you'll love it, as to serving there are lots of options in Sydney and it's not like a bike is serviced
2 or 3 times a year (Bigian excluded) a couple hundred bucks more is a small price to pay for 30-40hp more.

It's good to see that particular bike has already had the ($1000 to $1200) major service done already.
I love my S4RS. It has been perfectly reliable, and does everything that I am looking for in a bike. I can't think of anything - Ducati or otherwise - that I would prefer at the moment.

You might like to have a listen to this guy's opinion of his s4r and he also compares it to the hypermotard, quite an amusing character. Look under 'bike reviews'

I lov mine. Even with the small tank. I even push it when I forget to fill it up in time! They are just fantastic to ride every day.
