2007 S2R1000

« on: May 30, 2008, 11:26:11 AM »

Hi all, another TOB refugee here.

I posted this question on TOB (just as the changeover was happening) so I'd thought I try here.

I'm not sure if there are differences in US vs Cdn models...but can anyone with an '07 S2R1000 (Canadian model) post what their ECU serial number is?

I had my ECU replaced, under warranty, with the following one:

MS2R1000DUCATI048 (EU_UK)

I'm curious about the "(EU_UK)" part for a Canadian bike.

I'm wondering if this is a reprogrammed ECU, originally meant for European bikes.  It's supposed to be a "DP ECU" (according to the dealer and regional rep) specifically programmed to address the bike's popping/surging/etc. issues after the install of a DP midpipe.  Though I doubt it.  It might just be a reprogrammed ECU.

My bike was bought new in Ontario.  I remember seeing the "(USA)" part on the original ECU. Now I have an ECU with the "(EU_UK)" part.  So the ECU was definitely replaced.  I just don't know about it being a DP.

Since the replacement, I haven't had a chance to ride the bike for long enough, or hard enough, for the engine to register above the "Lo" temp, which is when all the popping/surging happened before.

Any other S2R 1K owners (Canadian) can chime in with their serial numbers?

Thanks for all your help!

I've got an 07 S2R1K.

Where do I find the ECU number and I will go down and check it for you.

You'll need to flip your tank.  The ECU is a rectangular thingy, close to the edge where the tank hinge rod is.  There's a label on it.

Thanks!   waytogo

OK ... I'll go check and see if I can find it.

Found it... MS2R1000DUCATI048 (USA)

Hmmm...it's starting to look like my bike's ecu was replaced with an European-designate ecu.

Any more Canadian  S2R1000's out there?

Note, I have yet to get my bike up to operating temps since the replacement, so it hasn't been popping/surging.  My riding time is severely limited to cooler rides at night.  Even the dealer, upon returning the bike to me, commented that I won't know for sure that the problem's fixed till the engine gets hot.

So I'd thought I check other S2R1000's ecu's....

Thanks for the replies so far!
