Rode Mines Road... last night.  Yikes.  Pretty exciting.  It's the kind of thing that's not really fun .  Don't forget to blink.  Took 3 1/2 hours, passed two cows in the road and countless rabbits.  36 degrees at the observatory and didn't get above 40 until I was almost in Livermore. Glad I did it but I don't see a habit forming.
Riding a road, one you've been on a bunch of times, gets very diffrent at night, everything is so diffrent.  Not just dark but diffrent.  What ever.  Try it sometime.

Closest I've come is riding Tam on Easter. Cold, spooky and usually damp. Oh, and some guy riding up your tailpipe.

But the sunrise makes it all worth it.

The worst is at night, no moonlight, deer mating season, bad rainstorm, and lots of fog, all together. Tongue

On a clear night with a full moon, it can be quite nice (but still take it slowly). waytogo

Big tank too.  It's 60+ miles between stations if I remember correctly.

I was really, really concerned about smashing into some huge animal but it turned out the frick'n rabbits were the problem.  There had to be 100+, they were everywhere.  I've seen a few huge boars out there and there's elk out by the Junction (RIP).

There was no moon, just head light so that didn't help.  It's was like a David Lynch movie. Ick.
