S & P Style Rearsets

since i've been looking around for some sets. i've noticed there's only maybe a handful of companies that still make them for the older monsters.
It's seems like everybody is copying the DP/S & P rearsets and came across these on ebay. they almost seem to good to be true.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160408393589&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
i ran the PN# and the MSRP is $675.00, but anybody could put a PN# on a copy.
here are 2 others:

i know the r brake switch might have to be switched to the micro.
What are some of your thoughts regarding the ebay ones or all of them. LMK what ya'll think thanks.

dont see why you cant just get cheaper rearsets for the SBKs (they look cooler) and make a braket to fit them. doesnt seem all that hard. Youd have to give in to GP Shift and find a way to mount that brake lever though.

or whaever brand you want
= cheap cool rearsets. the only issue is, im not sure how comfortable it is. id have to play around with it before i feel comfortable enough to weld it on.

The S&P style rear-set has a lot of strength, is good looking and is cheap too.
If you were to buy SBK rear-sets and (billing yourself out at $20/hour) make a bracket to adapt them to the Monster correctly....you'd likely be loosing money as it would take longer than one might imagine to get everything lined up and working properly.
But, because Modding a Monster is a personal affair and $ hardly ever really comes into it... Go for it!

here's some sets that caught my eye He Man. yours are nice ,but scared about china made stuff.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DUCATI-1198-1198S-REAR-SETS-REARSETS-FOOT-PEGS-IN-BLACK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5190d7d288QQitemZ350322414216QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
these allow you to have reg shifting and seem very adjustable.

you realize that anything you find on ebay thats not labeled as a named brand is most likley made in china right? like the ones you showed. pretty sure they are made in china. howver they do look much nicer!
Im about to pick up those tabs, and TIG weld it to my frame then PC it red.
but i want to pick up the rearsets first so i have an idea of how it would fit.
another thing to think about is the rear brake... on the s2r its moutned onto the rearset

yeah after posting that, i was like those are probably china made too. well they look good.
when figuring out about the rear brake set-up. i've been looking at how the rear brake is on the superbikes.
like this, but it's already ended.

well, i emailed podium racing about those sets i posted from ebay. this is what they said.
"We make the rearsets locally in the same facility that we make our Titanium bolts. We do sell all of the parts individually to anyone who has purchased our rearsets. The center to center distance is 75mm."
regards,
they're based in arizona.
i'm not bragging, just wanted to post it to info

yeah i have been looking at podium racing's ti stuff as well. good to know. but they MAKE ti bolts there... somehow that doesn't sound right...
TAft... do you make your own bolts or do you repackage a wholesalers' into kits?
I mean what kind of setup would a company need to make their own bolts?

man. i have just recently found out how much the OE monster sets suck. i'm still taking in ideas about how i want to do my sets. i've noticed that if i had some that were a lot closer to the frame and set back farther would be perfect. but i can't really start messing with anything just yet, because i'm waiting to hear back on a guy selling a seargent seat.

i got a chance to look at stock 1098 rearets. to get it to the stock S2R position (if you were to mount them directly to the frame like the DSS Monsters) they would need to be 2 inches longer and moved foward 2 inches as well.
So if you want to go back and up 2 by 2 inches, welding a frame tab and installing 1098 rearsets would be perfect. thats TOO much for me.i was thinking back 1 inch and up 1 inch. i may still do it and just make a bracket to extend them.
