find a shop that does spoked wheels, I'm sure they could remove and paint/pc/etc the spokes and rebuild

I think that's what "my guy" did and he was concerned that the rust he's developing might surface again in the threaded areas.

I think spokes actually stretch a little bit when being used.  At least this is what I've heard.  When I redid a set of Harley wheels people said it was better to use stainless steel spokes instead of chromed spokes.  When used chrome spokes would stretch causing the chrome to have small cracks which would lead to rust.  So if this is true then I'd be worried about PC'ing or painting spokes too.

Has anybody heard about Alpina's carbon fiber rims and spokes?  Take a look at this Alpina 2008 catalog.  On pages 62-63 there is a tubeless wheel with carbon fiber rims and spokes called the Carbon Pro Matrix.  Does anyone know if this wheel was ever released or is it still to come?

Yes, spokes stretch when they're tensioned.

Dunno if it's enough to be a problem with PC or paint.

You paint the spokes/wheels/etc AFTER the wheel is laced up.  Make sure whomever builds the wheel knows what they are doing so you don't have to do spoke tightening, etc later.

PC spoked wheels?  Forget about tightening spokes later or touching up.  To remove the spokes/rebuild the wheel later -- a nightmare.  Try removing PC without damaging the base metal via blasting or heating w/torch.

Black spokes?  There are a lot of "gun finishes" out there to use that will work on steel or stainless without problem.  Your hub/rims are typically aluminum though -- so you won't have an exact match on colors always.  Thus sometimes it's better to have black spokes w/polished (or brushed) hub and rim.
