i can buy this tank from s2r 800 for 100$ but i'am not sure will it fit on my S4RS?? Thanks for help p.s. sory for opening new topic,but i couldn't find another tread

Don't be sorry. If you tried the search then it may not be there. I've personnally never seen that asked. Try looking to see if the part number is the same. Here's a good online Ducati parts manuals source. http://www.store.commoto.com/parts-ordering.phpI think Ducati.com has them also for download.

Different fuel pumps. S4rs has an oval shaped fuel pump flange while 695/s2r8/s2r1 others have a round fuel pump flange.
So not a direct bolt up. I'd assume the flange was redesigned to clear the head on the vertical cylinder... so an s4r tank would probably fit on a 2 valve bike, but not vice versa

I hope it will. I bought an S2R tank and fuel pump and had it painted. I'll find out if it fits now that the weather is getting nicer.

Have a look at the diagrams. I know the fuel pump is different from one bike to the other. I also *think* the air box on the S4Rs is bigger/positioned differently - which will make for some real problems. The water cooled heads take up a good bit more room.
And if you can find the info, look at the fuel capacity for the two bikes - you might notice a marked difference

Will not swap IMO.
I haven't tried per se, but I have a plastic tanked bike here and the contour underneath is a LOT larger for the S4Rs engine than it is for the 2V engines.

Thanks Steve do you know maybe from s4r till '06?? It's Stuart actually, and you're surely welcome. S4R's (996 desmoquattro engined bikes) ran steel tanks throughout the production run. The plastic tanks were introduced on the 2V Monsters sometime in the 2005 production year and Ducati didn't want to make a special tank for the S4R (996) Monsters as they knew that the model was being phased out to make way for the S4Rs in 2007 so they just ran the steel tanks.

yes,few min. ago i was talking with my dealer,and he said that only tank from s4r testa from'06 will fit my bike!!! Thank you once more for helping me,and once more sory for my bad english

Your dealer and everyone is right My S2R tank will not fit. There are two issues. The tank's fuel pump area wants to hit the battery if you raise or lower the tank and the ECU is mounted offset to the left and my S2R tank does not have a cutout for the ecu... So now I have two options, relocate the battery and ecu or buy another tank for an S4R* testa and get it painted the same way my S2R tank is painted. What the heck I'm going to try relocating the ecu and going to a speedcell type battery first. edit: I'm getting a battery from this guy: http://www.customfighters.com/forums/showthread.php?s=256ba687729cb4c28952bd73dc3c6a29&t=31183

Here is the S2R tank on my S4Rs. I went to the LiFePo4 battery to move the ecu in & the clearance from one of the fuel pump bolts to the rear valve cover is *close* maybe 3/16" but the tank lowers and latches and the bike runs great with the new battery and the S2R fuel pump. It was an interesting experience.

Stu, am I reading this correctly? If one had an S4RS with a plastic tank and wanted to swap to a metal tank they could purchase one from an '06 S4R?

Not much that I can tell. I put about a gallon in for the first use - siphoned from a different bike. Then rode it about 12 miles to work and the fuel light came on. Then IIRC it took a bit under 3 gallons to fill it up. I can only look at specs between the two tanks to see that there should be a slight increase. No leaks One thing is that the outside vent hose wanted to rub on the rear belt so it got spliced to the inner vent hose to keep it out of the way. Also the battery drain hose is no longer needed. Before this got started I bought a spare battery tray off of ebay to "re-purpose" so everything is reversible.
