Hey All,

New to the boards here, but I have had my 06 S2R 1K for over a year and am just getting into modding it. I have had a bunch of bikes over the years, but this was my first Duc and I don;t think I am ever going to ride another bike again. I love this machine. b Grin Grin Grin

So I was poking around online and it seems like there is a $600 price difference between the Zard's for an 800cc vs a 1000cc S2R. Does anyone know if the pipes for the 800 model will fit my bike? I love the look of these, but the $1700 price tag for the 1000 pipes is a bit steep. I know its a long shot, but I thought maybe there was a chance I could get away with it...

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

-Zev

The main difference between the two is the "header" section of the pipe. Slip-ons would be interchangeable but a full system would not AFAIK.

Booooo.

I thought you might say that. Man those pipes are bad...but $1700 bucks is a ton of dough.

there are other companies that make header pipes. I was at the dealer the other day and they want $900+ just for a termi header pipe.  Shocked Do some research and you can find other header pipes for cheaper.  Another difference between the S2r 800 and S2R 1000 pipes are that the 1k header pipe has a spot where the O2 sensor goes in. But like ive said, ive seen them for $300 - $900. With that option you can then just buy slip-ons and save some serious $$ in the process.

just fyi - i took in some info for a Marving header pipe and asked if there was any issue with fit, quality and such. The dealer brought out the mechanic and he said none what so ever. As long as it has the O2 sensor attachment he saw no problem with it. (that pipe was about $350.) I was actually very surprised to hear the dealer say that.

Here is one particular option that seems to be popular. Also see the difference between the 800 and 1000.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like Zard makes just a slip on...

Thanks for sending those two images of the 800 and 1000 midpipe my way...kind of a big difference there in terms of the shape of them.

I don;t mind the Marvings, but the Zards are pretty evil looking...

Zards rock, I have them on my 800. Aside from the header pipes, the BIGGEST difference is that of the oil sump in the 1000DS motor. You can see clearly that it has a deep sump, so the horizontal pipe under the bike is totally different.

Zards are pricey.. i managed to score mine for $650 used. Sweet deal.

Are there any other high mount pipes for the S2R besides Zard? I love the look of the pipes tucked under the seat as opposed to the shotgun style.

I am currently looking at Sil-motos, They make a round, high mount and left and right. Very difficult to get however.

Spark makes an awesome underseat for the S2R.
Chris at Desmoworld in Germany can get you setup with one... He's one of our sponsors...
I think maybe motowheels has it too, they're in CA.

This Spark system doesn't look too bad at all! I would obviously have to get rid of the bladder (I am surprised that they even included it in this system) but that seems easily done with their midpipe.

Anybody had any experience with the Spark system? Any thoughts on performance and sound?!?

Thanks!!!

There's a bunch of great vids on youtube of mosnters with Spark exhausts. It makes the bike sound like a big block muscle car IMO. Classic looking, great sounding exhaust.
