I participated in the Long Ride 2008 which left Sydney and headed West. A great ride and opportunity to meet new people and to be part of something worth while.

The link to the site is here:

My company is pushing for a big turn out and looks like we're headed from Brissy to Nyngan on Saturday 1 May to meet up with the main group, stay the night then head back toward Brissy. Sure hope I won't be the only Duc on the ride..........again.

I might be able to one or two of the legs, seems as though it's long straight roads that the ride takes in.

Yep, agreed. Interesting comment as us Duc riders got a caning at work with regards to doing more than 200Km a day and no Latte's in site. We pointed out that the ride organisers had chosen a route suitable to BMW, Harley and Mac Trucks. Even got the standard "oh how could a Duc even contemplate going west of Brissy/Sydney as no workshop support was available".

Again, although we started with a couple of Ducs in 08 by evening my baby Monster was the only Duc left standing. Not due to break downs but due to other commitments. I think Looney did the Brissy leg last time also?

Hmm, echo, echo, echo - lots of interest I see.

Well I'm looking at giving my rear end a good workout (now now) and will be heading out of Brissy to Nyngan via Macquarie Swamp. From there via Charleville on to Longreach then back via Emerald, Roma and home. All up 3200Km on my trusty S2R 800.

What still no takers?

Is there no pleasing you?

Sorry MD but it sort of conflicts with my own Long ride.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Maybe heaps more notice required for such an undertaking considering how much it takes to get any of us together at any time.

I'll be doing the final leg (Katherine to Darwin) on my S2R1000, I think it's the 8th of May. Should be a good time, including the beers afterwards  chug chug

i did the brissie leg and copped a ribbing about being a wog bike riding, latte drinking poof. not only that but it squared off a perfectly good tyre so this year i'm going to avoid "white line fever" and the dribble from over the hill harley and beemer pilots who need incontinence nappies and viagra to function.
i still gave em a donation though, it's tax deductible after all. Grin
