Well, based on MaxDB's beautiful Road Warrior, and since it was a rainy day today, I cut 6" off my Termi's. It really wasn't that hard at all and only took a little over an hour. I even "Re-Termi stickered" it!
Yes, I know, I've got the hanger on the wrong side of the mounting tab, but I was trying to give the cans a little more clearance on the passanger footpegs. Carbon is pretty fragil when it coms to abrasion.

I took 6" off the exhaust end (Rear most), mostly because I didn't want to have to relocate the hanger brackets. But in retrospect, I think it might have been eaiser taking it off the front, as I wouldn't have had to spend so much time measuring & alighning the exit caps. But, then I'd be stuck with holes in the cans where the hanger brackets were relocated?!?

I would describe it as "slightly louder". Still, no where near as loud as most Harleys, or I-4's you hear on the streets with performance exhausts, but I was completely surprised at how quiet the stock Termi cans were in their original configuration. Actually quieter than a lot of stock systems I've heard on other bikes!
Now, it just sounds a little more like a track bike. Let me explain that I'm 60 years old, and not looking to make a lot of noise, I actually prefer a quiet bike, but after I chopped the tail, it just looked too strange to me with those cans sticking out that far!
Here's a couple Vids, first sitting in the driveway:
S4RS, shortened Termi's
Then this one is a street pass:

damn that sounds good.

I know what you mean by the tail chop making the exhaust look bad.  I had the same pipes and decided to sell them and strip the under seat termis of the S2 and swap them out.

Can't wait to do this mod.  So I guess I'll chop "rear most end" I was concerned with the flaring but I guess it's not an issue. And I definately do not want holes in the cans.

After your cut, just Dremel the inside, perforated pipe, so the end cap will slip back into it more easily. The cutting process, no matter how you do it will leave burrs.
I think I discovered part of why Termi's are so expensive; they're very well made. There's the carbon fiber exterior can, then 3/4's of an inch of fiberglass inside of that, then to keep the fiberglass from getting blown out & having to repack, there's two bronze screens with a layer of steel wool between them that is directly surrounding the perforated pipe that makes up the core of the cans, capped off by the stainless steel end caps and titanium pipes.
