Just thought of something that might stop spam a bit. Maybe if every new user had to have their first post approved by the moderators before it gets published, you could ban guys posting shite before anyone needs to see it.
It would be a good idea if it's available as a software mod, but I don't know if it would stop anything in the long term unless the new member doesn't know the post is being scrutinized.
It certainly would eliminate some 'shite' as you say.
