Often wrong. Never in doubt.

And I thought the whole idea of the tail-chop was to remove all of that plastic permanently attached and hanging below the back of the seat.....
Well... you're right it kinda is.  But if you kept all the stock components then, should you find yourself riding in a climate where its constantly raining, you could refit for some rear-end weather protection....

What about this thought; Have a piece metal or plastic (same size as license plate) that mounts to the back side of your license plate  to the two lower screw holes in your license plate with bolts and wing nuts. When you get stuck in the rain you remove the metal/ plastic piece and flip it around and remount it, so you would be lengthing the license plate. Kind of like a mud flap attached to the plate. Not sure how much it would help but it might.

Personally I'm a firm believer in the less-is-more faith. If you look at my bike you can see I've taken off the side pods, rear hugger, seat cowl, crank case breather and belt covers. And if I could I'd get rid of turn signals, lights, mirrors, exhausts, speedo, etc... I'd be happy to.

The tail chop definitely looks better and cleaner than the 748 plastic I put on, but this is the best compromise for me so far. Attaching a piece of metal or plastic to the license plate when it rains and then taking it off might work, but it's not my kind of fix.

Cheers, and keep the good ideas coming.

And I was really not trying to be critical. If you give 5 guys the same problem you will get 5 different solutions, most of which will have merit.
