The rider panicked and braked (you can momentarily see the bike standing up) instead of following through the turn. If they're going to "get" you, they will.
We get these lovely helicopters popping out of nowhere on the mountain runs in my neck of the woods. That is scary, really scary.
Must have been scary for the rider seeing a Patrol vehicle "head on" as he took the bend.

Anyone thinks there's something strange about that video?
Yeah, I feel the same way. Almost like it was staged.

I think the cop noticed his buddy with the video camera and put 2+2 together. Thats why he happened to be parked there. I mean if you're a cop and notice someone filming a twist road what else can you expect? Smart police work in my opinion.

Mods let me know if this crosses the line
We have a Leo out here in the Texas hill country that rides a Hardley. He is very well known. I have had the pleasure of doing business with him on two separate occasions. On the second business transaction one of the riders in my group tried to run and blew through a guardrail at low triple digit speeds after lowsiding. He lost an arm and was comatose for a month or so. I had the pleasure of helping keep this guy alive while the helicopter came. I was not allowed to leave until several hours later after a stern talking to and a speeding ticket. The Leo explained to me that scraping riders off the ground is a weekly occurrence for him and he's tired of it. I left with the understanding that he is not out there just to write tickets but to slow us down and make sure we can ride another day.
Maybe this guy in the video is also sick and tired of cleaning up messes. I don't agree with where the Leo was parked but I imagine he also stays pretty busy cleaning riders off the road and is just doing his part.

I see this stupid shit every weekend.
I'm probably going to volunteer at the local fire company, though my concern is scraping my friends off the road. I'm not exceptionally skilled in any form, but I do ride within my limits, something 99% of the riders I see don't do.

You guys have turned this thread into a another "blame someone else because I'm a dumbass" thread. Where the cop is parked has nothing to do with anything. Unless you are him you have no idea why he parked there. Could have been to talk on his cell phone, write notes on a ticket, eat an apple, or whatever. We don't park somewhere hoping to make someone crash. That's the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time.
The moto rider sucks, that's it. Nothing else to it.

that i agree on. but tell me.. why does traffic slow when there is an accident on the side of the road. or when a police has a radar set up? not because anyone is breaking the law.. it's the distraction.

I hate the concept of speed traps, because I dislike the idea of cops waiting for people to commit an offense (then bust them), rather than preventing them from doing so in the first place (imagine if they treated murder the same way)
But ultimately it's the responsibilty of the rider to ride at speeds which allow him to handle any unforseen hazards while maintaining control of his bike. He failed to do so.....it could have been anything on the other side of that bend......

No LEO talk here - like others have mentioned - a handful of front break while leaned over will do that! The video clearly shows that....
And since LEO talk is inevitable....

I think this thread has lived its useful life since people can't leave speed traps and other off-topic off-limit subjects out.
And since I am typing, I agree with hbliam, the guy sucked as a rider, and it didn't matter what the parked car was doing or what type of car it was. It could have been any car parked there, and the rider still would have probably got surprised and dumped it.
