Finally found some headlights that I like.....    What a change it has made to the look of the bike! So what else can I now do to it? |

Looks sweet, how you liking the clip-ons? Next? How about removing the airbox and putting a couple of pods on Clip ons are good...I dont have them set real low, just a slight downwards angle. They felt low when I first put them on, but I could probably drop them a bit more now. Got them direct from the manufacture in the US....Apex manufacturing if your interested. The owner is a nice guy who was really helpful & knew his stuff. Price was pretty good to! http://www.apexmfg.com/cliponsstore.htmlNow the pods are a very good idea! I've put the on a few older custom bikes, but never thought of them on this....now you've got me thinking. Is there anything I need to worry about (ie sensors etc) if I remove the air box? To tell you the truth Tony, I have no idea. I have seen it on some of the US members bikes and like the way it opens up the frame, but I have no idea how to do it.

Thanks WRXMY99. I've already found their site & have been checking out their kits...pretty much a straight bolt on. I've been bouncing a few emails to Allan over there & he's pretty helpful. Hey Vossy, they are only for show!  ...to be honest I haven't tried them at night. Both lights are on all the time so there should be big more light there. Got them from http://moto-madness.com/index.htmThe lights including the mounting brackets were around $250 US delivered. Pretty easy to fit, just remove the old headlight & mounting brackets. I also changed the instrument cluster mounts & mounted them under the top triple clamp (dropped it around 5cm). I modified the lower part of the bracket that holds the brake cables in place, but I only did this so I can hide all the messy wiring that normally sits behind the headlight. Only took a couple of hours all up! |

Nice work and indeed changes the look of the bike So what else can I now do to it? well... since you asked.  - remove rear huger - put paint matched rear cowl - remove side panels - put matching rim tape - remove timing belt(s) covers - lower entire light/gauge/dials assembly (there's a few DIY examples on this board on how too) - (if you don't ride 2-up/pillion) then fit a nice set of rear-set foot control/pegs to do away with the horridly big OEM ones. |

Was looking at a custom two tone seat....just so the kids can still come for a ride. Had a look at the logistics of pulling the air box out & putting pods in.....started playing today & an hour later its all out including a heap plastic bits, hoses etc. Its amazing how much plastic is hidden away under the tank & seat! |

OK OK....so its still a work in progress.... The air box is now gone, fitted a TPO crankcase breather kit & put on some small pods. So there is a heap of plastic now out of the bike so it should be a bit lighter . The pods look cool, & there's a bit more performance, but best of all is the sound! Open the throttle & there is a nice deep growl as everything opens up. Really above all else the new sound is the best & if you are looking at improving the sound of your bike I would highly recommend this mod (& its cheap too!) Will post some pics tomorrow. |
