OK, I'm trying to install some new footpegs for my Monster 695 and for the life of me I cannot get them on. The spring, when under tension, will not align with the pin that holds the footpeg to the frame of the bike. There has to be a trick in dealing with this spring. Any ideas?

You're not trying to install it upside down or backward by chance?
There should be a small hole in the rearset that one end of the spring fits into.
If this doesn't help, maybe a pic would shed some light.

take a screwdriver and stick it in the far hole to keep alignment. then start to work the pin in from the other side. this way you aren't totally fighting the sprinng.  but yeah, make sure the spring isn't backwards

I just did this on my S2R and it shouldn't be that difficult.  Just make sure the spring is in right like others have said.
