Just wondering if there is a practical purpose for these other than the bling factor.  Thank you.

Some people say that the weights reduce vibration.  I've never had a problem with vibration, so <shrug>.

Other bar ends act as a slider if you drop the bike or have a slow speed crash.  You save the bar from getting shaved down.

There are also those that allow for locking of throttle to have cruise control on those long rides.

From first hand experience. I removed my barend weights for mounting my barend mirrors on my stock bars... didn't notice much until my hands started going numb... mirrors shook like mad too... When i switched rizoma grips, i had some room to mount my mirrors onto the bars... and was able to put my barend weights back on. Made a pretty significant impact on the vibration in the mirrors... Not sure if the weights did it, or if changing mounting points did it though... /shrug for me too...

My mirrors tell me vibration is less with weights.

My gut tells me the bugs would love the inside of the bars.

Plugs at least, weights are functional and look good

The bar end weights on my old Monster were very heavy so i removed them, but I did feel more vibration through the bars.

I got some alloy bar ends and this reduced the vibration again and still shed most of the weight. They were quite cheap and looked good.

Someone told me that you could squeeze some silicone into the bar end holes and that this would help quell the vibration.
I tried it and then put the alloy bar ends on. Not sure if it made a difference.
