Hey All hummm i mean Ya'll from the south.... A few of us are heading down to your neck of the woods on Wednesday the 14th. Do you peeps have any advice on roads to ride and roads to stay away from? We are gonna hit rt129 sooner or later on this trip and yes we know about the rock slide but are looking for other roads to hit on our way. Were trucking the bikes down for 10 hours unloading and riding the rest. That should put us around Winchester,VA around 5:30 - 6am Thursday. Is
Skyline dr
any good? Was thinking of taking that south to Swannanoa and getting on the Blue ridge pkwy. Any help would be much appreciated

You'll want to hit up several roads. My personal favorites are Squirrel Spur which is up around Stuart, NC. Along Hwy8 I believe. Be careful going downhill as there are a couple of nasty decreasing radius right handers that have left many an experienced rider out. I also like Tuggles Gap, Orchard's Gap, Indian Valley and Piper's Gap just outside of Mt. Airy (Mayberry). Those roads are all around the same area straddling VA and NC.
Here's some of the route,
