Howd'y All.

Just picked up a 620i.e for the better half, and dropped the oil/ filter. The bike store recommended Motul 5100 10W50. Changed the oil out, and went for a ride. Almost straight away I noticed that the gears changed were crunchy. Thought is was me just getting used to the bike, however did not improve, same on up & down changes and at the top of rev range in 1st/2nd it felt like the clutch slipped a bit....

Did a search and noticed that others had strange noises / clutch slip with Motul 5100......and other info would be great.

Cheers

I presume the 620 is the same as the 695 in this respect.  My manual recommends 10W40 oil.  I suspect that the 10W50 is too heavy, especially given the cooler weather we've been having.

I'm yet to replace my oil, but when I do I intend on using Motul 7100 10W40.  I used to use this in my sewing machine Across, and it was good gear.

Suzy,
I've been using Motul 7100 in mine (M695) for the last 2 years. No problems at all, and I'll keep using it too.

I've run Motul 5100 10W-40 in my 620 for quite a while now with no probs. Noticeable shift improvement over the recommended Shell stuff too. Personally I rate it. I think you can still get it in 10W-40, but it might have been phased out by 10W-50

Run 5100 10W-40 in my 620 with no problems... Might run 7100 next time to compare.
