Grrrrrr.... Egg on my bike
«

Been parking in pretty much the exact same place in Manhattan for 2 years now (Bank St. between Washinton and West Side Hwy) with no problems. Tonight my Scorpio alarm went off and I ran down to find someone had thrown a raw egg at my bike
. Mostly hit the carbon termis and I washed it off as best I could before heading home. Doesn't seem to have done a whole lot of damage (though I'll see for sure tomorrow)... but really pissed me off.
On the plus side: getting a new bike anyway so....
If anyone sees any hooligans in the West Village with eggs in their hands, feel free to run 'em over.

I'm sorry to hear that, i hope it doesn't mess up the carbon. What bike are you getting?

Dude, that's WAY worse! Yuck! How'd you get it off? I've still got some egg on my swingarm I can't get off... WD40 didn't do the trick but I don't want to strip the paint... I think just some fingernail scrubbing is the best I can do.

Same location, 3 weeks later...
A damn SUV backed into my bike and knocked it over
. Sliders did their job, but it bent my rear brake pedal... can't Ducati think of another way to mount those things so that the frame sliders can protect them?

Ugh yeah really. It could have been a lot worse that's for certain. I oddly have a brand new brake pedal in my garage, I took a look at the bent one and it's not bent enough to even justify the time to switch them out. Thank god for sliders.
I think she's mad at me for replacing her... guess I'll have to take her out to dinner or something...

dude the brake pedal is aluminum. Im serious just pull it straight with your hand.
Bikes been down on the right side twice. I just pull the lever straight. Make sure your brake light is still activated by the pedal, sometime it goes out of alignment.

Turns out (comparing it to the new part I've got) that it's just the toe fob that is bent upwards... I'm not strong enough with my hands to twist it back... might take a wrench to it... but it's only maybe 10deg north of where it should be... hardly a bother.
I did discover this evening that I am missing a bolt on one of my termis... I took a bolt off the stock pipes, it worked (this is why I don't throw anything away). No idea how long it's been out... I took the can off to make sure the bolt hadn't sheered off in the drop... nope, just gone. Took the opportunity to mount them on the lower hole (makes them higher by an inch)... why not?
Rear brake fluid is flirting dangerously close to "Min"... can I just pour in some new fluid or is it more complicated than that? (2 years, 3k miles... if that matters)

Just pour in some DOT 4 or 5.1 and don't overfill. Also check how much rear brake pad is left.

Thanks! Got some fluid in the garage. Hard to tell about the pads without taking them out, but new pads are on order anyway. Giving the bike to the wife soon and want to make sure it'll stop for her!

just look at it from an angle, there should be a valley between the pads, if u cant see it, that means its worn out, or if its really shalllow, then its worn out. kinda like this
