Not my first bike but my first Ducati! It is the bike i have compared all my other Ducatis to, my 03 M800 dark! The guy I sold it to is thinking of selling it and I am in the market. It was perfect when it was sold, I dont know what it is like now bur he seemed as anal about his bikes as I am...it would be weird!!!

I can see that. I love my 620 Dark (2003) and can't imagine replacing it with something else. But if I did, I could see wanting to buy it back and having that warm IZ_ feeling that I had the bike back that had brought me so much happiness.

Go for it!  waytogo

I think it would be like going back to an EX. Not a good idea IMHO.

I am currently considering/conspiring with my roomate the idea of lowballing and getting back my 01 Monster 900 from the ex because it has sat and degraded for almost 2 years...knowing it needs alot of work now and she needs money....

i'm thinking it might be like seeing  your first  girlfriend after a few years.

at least the bike can't have put on any weight or had any kids ;o).

Might have done alot of heavy drinking tho and be looking a bit rough round the edges.

I think that liking it to an ex is what's weird. There's a major difference (for most guys anyway) in the connection that they form with their first car or motorcycle - look at the Papa John's guy. If I had the chance, I wouldn't mind having my first car back - I miss my 79 Trans-am. It's not the same type of love or relationship that you have with a person - unless of course you're Bo Duke and quite literally in love with your General Lee!!!  cheeky

I'm particularly nostalgic about tangible things that I own from my youth - and it's the same way for me and my Monster - it's just special in it's own way.

a car or motorcycle is not liek an ex gf or bf...

the major difference is that you can with time and money fix up an old car or motorcycle so that its literally better than when you first had it.  you can't do that with a person no matter how much money you have.  if you can, then you my friend are someone that i need to speak to.  laughingdp laughingdp

Why on earth would SHE have it  Huh?

BTW, buying back a previously owned bike is called "Eganing".  You Cycle World readers will know what I mean.

Considering it right now. The guy I sold my 696 to has it back on the market, and I'm thinking it might make a decent first bike for my fiancee.

long story short, she moved to L.A. and then we decided to seperate/divorce.....dividing up property, I had 3 bikes, she had 1, and we were amicable enough at the time that I gave her the option of which Monster she could have, and she chose the '01 streetbike...a month later she had me transport it to a nuetral person's place ( a mutual friend) for to be staged for later transport cross country....that transport has as of yet never happened and said nuetral person knows relatively nothing about bikes and is paranoid about having people over to look at the bike for selling it for her ( so CL is not an option to him)....

I have a sale pending on my first car.  88 mustang gt.  I just had to tell somebody.......it's an emotional time.  I've never loved a car like i love my m900, so I could understand buying it back.  Keep it in the family because it's not just a bike its a duc.

Regardless, you have been looking for a M800 for quite a while now and these bikes don't pop up for sale very often.  Unless it has been trashed or the price is unreasonable then this is the bike for you.
