I thought I've seen a thread of cheap/do it yourself mods, but now I can't seem to find it.  I've searched, but no luck.

So, if there is one, help me out with a link?

And if there isn't, then post up your cheap/do it yourself mods!

Oh, and I've already done the tail chop, replaced the blinkers all around, and I'm in the process of chopping my stock cans.

Scooter Montgomery

I did a tail chop, blinkers swap, hugger chop, front fender chop,  lexan windows in the belt covers, removed side covers, different tank stickers all on the cheap.

remove belt covers is the most win free mod!

Add "polished the cases" to the DIY list.

Home made number plate holder (sort of a clayton's tail chop):

And the result on the bike:

Home made mount for rectifier and coil (enabling a Showa shock swap on my 695):

Homemade rear brake/signal harness, rear brake reservoir, tail chop, throttle body bracket and hose clamps, dash, battery terminals, modded preload adjuster caps, moved fuel lines/regulator, fusebox, starter solenoid, drilled shifter link, re-routed starter wire, SC left control, SBK throttle advance, filed cast lines off lower triple and polished, headlight bypass, lowered gauges, handmade stainless oil lines, replaced/relocated radiator overflow bottle and a few other things.

Pales in comparison to the pros on the site, and people like Theo, but that's about all I can do given I have no real fab skills, nor can I weld.  I can however, check valve lash, change belts, change oil/filter, replace clutch...all because of this site.   :)

A free and easy one is to flip the shift lever on the gearbox over to convert to GP shift pattern, did this on my bike and like it waaay better.

Also wired up a relay and diodes up to the HB switch so the headlight can be off while starting, working on the bike, etc....this cost less  than $10

Learned of this at ADV rider and posted a Monster specific writeup here at http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=32045.0

some great ideas here guys....

Some of them don't apply to me, since I have a 99 750, but hopefully this will help others.

I forgot to mention things the previous owner did:
clip ons
dual headlights
removed fairing
relocated gauges
bar end mirrors (the cheap bicycle kind)

and a couple more things I did:
removed vent pods
removed emissions canister
custom made LED taillight w/ brake flasher
custom made plate bracket
removed hugger

Things I'll add to my list:
new decals, I'll probably go gloss black which should look good on the dark
remove belt covers (or at least paint them)

Cutting wheel applied to front guard to change shape, shortened handle bar ends (reduced tank slappers) and moved grips and controls inward an inch or so, changed bar end weights to alloy and color of choice, tail mid-chop and cut up plastic bits to make number plate holder, painted belt covers sprocket cover and clutch cover , el cheapo small indicators, one just legal el cheapo mirror (I live in a police state), Honda L H switch bits to have head light switch (or else there's not enough oomph to turn the hi comp pistons over), Paint headlight rim, remove seat cowling (wife pillions alot anyway), paint carbon with smoke/clear acrylic to darken it and take out the green tinge, paint tappet covers to suit.
