Anyone 5' 8" ish and taken it for a ride? The seat hieght is a few inches taller then a 695 and that's what's holding me back from making the drive to go test ride it.

Just go ride it. You'll get used to the height...just have to plan your stops when you're getting used to the moto.

I'm 5'8". I have a MTS1000, and a KTM 990 SMT...both tall bikes. Also had a 1200GS...tall AND heavy. The new MTS is fine for your height.

Thanks. I just talked to a guy at work with GS1200 who said the seats were adjustable on both or get used to your tippy toes.

Put a quick 10 miles on one today.  Was amazed at a couple things:

1). How refined it felt.  Certainly doesn't feel like a brand new model!

2). How light it felt.  I was thinking it would be more cumbersome to manage so for the first few city turns, I was putting too much input in and having to correct for that.

3). Wind-noise was an issue for me too.  Didn't like that...

4). +1 on the tall passenger seat.  I had to plan a different dismount than normal as a result.

All in all, I was impressed with it.

Stu,
Did you ride the Standard or the S model ?

I would just take the windscreen off like I did w, my K 1300 GT.

Any idea when they will go on sale ?

When are the new M1200 S's going to be available at the Dealer's for sale ?

My best guess is this winter. I ordered one a week ago and current estimate is for July. Maybe. Many places on the web say the factory is swamped and at least 60 days out. Most of those statements were before most US dealers had their launch events or any demo bikes for people to ride - there were over 500 US pre-orders by people who'd had no chance to see a real one. After the demos, orders probably hover in the range of 1.5 to 2 shitloads.

Oddly, Pro Italia in LA lists several MTS1200S Tourings as available for sale at list. I have my doubts.

As far as removing the windscreen, that would leave the bike looking very odd due to how it's mounted. The fact that it covers some electronics might mean removing it could be a bad idea. I suspect the Sport screen is quieter and that very small aftermarket screens will become available.

We'll see what Stu says, but I think every demo bike shipped to the US was probably an S-model Touring.

I guess I'll just give Pro Italia a call and see if those S's are for real or if they are just and Advertising ploy.

Better still would be to talk to the gentleman that owns Ducati of Seattle . He seems to be an honest man.

I want to say his name is Roger ?

Bingo!   In pearl white btw...

I don't know the ship dates and such, but our shop has at least 6 deposits and we keep sending that bike out on test rides...

I think the guy at DucSea is Dave Roosevelt.

GP here in San Diego is already delivering some.

Ducati Seattle began delivering them as well...I know of at least one that went out last week. They're all pre-orders though. I have no idea when they'll just have them sitting around for sale...I would guess winter as well.

Hmm. My test ride was on an Anniversary Red one. It's the only one they've received.

Right. I was responding to a question about when there would likely be MTS1200's on the floor at dealers for sale to walk-in customers. Given the number of bikes they're going to have to deliver to customers who already have deposits down, I suspect there won't be unsold ones for quite some time.

what we are seeing right now is Ducati NA has released the first batch of pre sold bikes to dealers who participated in the training academy and the National launch.  We have 7 pre sold in transit right now, two already arrived.  Ducati NA will try and fill any pre sold units before they release bikes for floor sales.  I would anticipate 45-60 days before we have units to sell that weren't pre sales.
