I haven't been around much since I gave up riding a couple of years ago, but wanted to post up for those who know me.

My brother and his wife hit a deer last night near Navajo Lake.  They were on the ST2 I sold him a few years back.  His wife came through with just a dislocated thumb, but Justin is in a bit worse shape.  3 broken ribs, rash on both knees (1 of which required stitches,) rash on right shoulder, bruised spleen, very small part of 1 lung is collapsed but the doc isn't worried at all, and misc. bumps and bruises.  His helmet is totally destroyed and the doctor said without it he'd be an organ donor.  He's in quite a bit of pain and they plan on keeping him in the hospital for a couple of days.

All things considered they came out OK.  He was wearing a moto jacket and jeans with full-face helmet and gloves.  He slid down the pavement on his shoulder and head and his jacket burned through.

He does not ride after dark, but he didn't have a choice last night.  They were riding with friends who got a flat tire on their bike late afternoon.  By the time they were able to get it fixed it was nearly dark.  They were only about 40 miles from home and decided to take their time getting there.  The deer had other plans.

I don't know much about the bike yet as I haven't seen it.  It really isn't that important, anyway.  I'll keep you all posted.

Jeremy,

I am so sorry to hear that. I know how important your family is to you, & how big a part of your life motorcycling has been.  We all fear things like this, yet we keep pounding out the miles.  Please let him know the group is thinking of them both, & hope they heel quickly.

We miss you down here (Maybe I cursed you by putting your name in a thread yesterday).

Everyone: Wear your make the beast with two backsing helmets...ALWAYS!!!

Don't be a stranger, Count.

I'm glad to hear your brother and his wife are still both (mostly) in one piece.  I hope everything heals well and he's able to make a full recovery! The idea of hitting a deer scares the hell out of me when I ride.

Jeremy,
I'm glad they didn't get hurt any worse...always cringe when I hear about somebody going down.
Tell them we are thinking of them and hope they recover fully soon.

Thanks all for the well wishes.  Kingbaby:  No worries brother, don't even think thoughts like that.  I miss you guys, too.

My brother was just moved up to ICU because they couldn't keep his oxygen level up.  An X-ray revealed that his lung is collapsing further and they have to insert a chest tube.

Thanks again, all!

He's still in ICU but his condition has improved quite a bit.  Headed back out to the hospital now; I'll keep you posted.

That's great news.  I've spent a large part of my life laying in those damn hospital beds, and any improvement feels like your one step closer to walking out the door.  He's blessed to have you there.

Thanks again everyone.

It's been a little give and take lately.  He'll improve a bit, then have an issue.  He's still sedated and in-tubated, and they're keeping him in ICU for the forseeable future.  All we can do is hope and wait.
