ok I'll try putting more play into the pedal. A new rear caliper was the first thing I put on, would hate to have to spend another $200 for another one.

Thanks all for the advice

If you have the standard issue Brembo rear 2 piston caliper you can get brandy new one for under 100 bucks with the pads....a new master is even less than that

Yoyodyne even has a choice of colors ;D  When ordering it is a good idea to call and speak to Fred to make sure you are getting the right part.

Fred at YoYo is still a great source

Lately I have used Aldrin of Rapid Moto Parts...he has good hooks into real-made-in-Italy Brembo supplies, EVR Bling, NCR stuff etc etc

He set me up with a pair of Sil-NCR Titanium cans new for 500 bucks

He has an ePay Store but prefers to go direct, you'll get better prices direct..

Good guy, great prices and no junk or mystery parts .....here is some of his stuff at this link

just wondering -

it sounds like this locks up when you are not touching the brake? ( re: freeway at 80)

as in, it does not happen when you rearbrake and it just wont release?

Correct, it just starts to tighten up gradually until it's like you are stepping on the brake 100%.  Weirdest thing I've ever experienced.  I did several test rides (20 - 30 miles each) on it before I was on the freeway this weekend, all of them had no problems.  Then rode  for almost 100 miles before it happened on the way home.

so as your pads heat up they heat the fluid which expands and then closes the brakes.
overflow tube plugged?

For a Ultra propper bleed you might consider to loosen the caliper and line and hold it above the master when you bleed it to be sure that no air is caught in the line.

Yup, something causes the fluid to heat/expand.  But only at the caliper, the front of the hose & master cylinder is cool.  Line is no where near the exhaust & it's not like I used the brake too much to cause heating (when it happened Saturday I hadn't used the rear brake in at least 10miles)

Aldrin is a great guy,,,he is working down in Kentucky now, has the wife with him there....misses NY like crazy and wants to come back.  He is building up his own business at the same time he is working down there

He is doing some great deals by me for the odds and ends I need...I just picked up a pair of mint silver Narrow Band calipers off a 999 w/500 miles on them for 350.
