This is a pretty fun read.

"You had to be a little nuts to strap a rocket to your bike back in the 1920s. Or 1970s. Or even today, come to think of it. But behind every crazy idea is a man just bold enough to reach for glory — that, or a rich kid with too much time on his hands and a buddy standing next to him saying "Dude, I dare you.""

I'm thinking Heli Bars, tall shield and some soft side luggage... voila, rocket powered sport tourer!

But... isn't that just a jet bike with an afterburner?

"just"... like that makes it normal.

So what is the proper nomenclature here?

If you strap any sort of motor to a two-wheeled conveyance, it's technically a motorcycle, so there would be no such thing as a rocket powered bicyle.

Or is it a motorcycle only if one or more of the wheels are directly driven?  Then two wheels with a rocket attached is a rocket powered bicycle.

Discuss.

The Human Fly story is great!

If you strap rockets to your legs, which crank the paddles, it'd be a rocket bicycle.
